Gidday. Bought one of these yamaha things the other day, after braking an important bit of my funduro and not having time to fix it. Didn't & still don't want anything to do with aging beemer fuel injection so I bought a newish XT with jap FI instead of an older BMW. Seems ok so far, if you ignore the bar vibration and the speedo's lies. Likes the gravel.

Nelson, New Zealand?

It's nelson NZ, I checked his profile, cheating huh?

Never been to Nelson Lancashire, been to Colne Lancashire though, me mums home town.
Have been to Nelson NZ, that my home town.
2nd sons middle name is Nelson so I must have liked it, not enough to be the first though!
Actually it's also his great grandads name, and Lord Nelson's name, surname albeit.

I'm picking it's an R.

Welcome aboard yesbut. I'll be interested to hear your comparison of the two bikes. I almost bought a Funduro myself before I bought my XT. I also fancied the later F5650GS and Dakar but they were a bit pricey for me.

My Funduro had a 21' rim laced into the oem hub. Pretty good gravel bike, I did a couple of enduro type rallies on it. Beautiful road bike ! Very very smooth engine. I'm only just getting used to the xt. Unsurprisingly it's significantly better in the gravel than the beemer, but it's not as nice on the tarseal, feels to me like it's at it's most comfortable cruising about 90kmh, faster than that takes a few minutes to get used to, whereas the beemer, the faster the better it got. The fat tank was not so good for standing, but I managed. Actually I still have a 99 ST, (the missuses' )
