taller screen

being 6ft 2" i seem to be sitting up right in the wind, fine upto 60-65mph but one i go over that it gets proper noisy, i see there are loads of different screens out there but wouldnt mind one that somebody has tried that works. i will be more than happy if i can sit at 70-75mph in comfort :)

No guarantees but to just extends yours with some tape and plastic to see what works for you.

The height is not everything. It also depends one the shape of the helmet and your riding position. Last byt not least you also get a lot of buffeting coming up the front fork.

I'm 1.9m and my Puig (4636F - 931409) screen is 7.8cm higher than standard and does help a lot.

I use a skidmarks one and it keeps more wind off the body but I think the buffeting isn't reduced that much. I think the guys are getting good results with the screens that have the spoiler on top.

Having tried standard screen, standard screen and Touratech spoiler, Puig tall screen and Puig tall screen with Aerotrim spoiler; I concur that adding a spoiler is the more effective solution (for me anyway).

I found that just sticking on a bigger screen, while keeping more wind off you, increases turbulence behind the screen (barn door effect). It's logical really, it deflects more air, but that turbulent air has to displaced somewhere in the form of drag.

I think the fact that a spoiler allows some air to flow behind as well as in front, reduces drag rather than increases it. Adding a spoiler to the top of the (already tall) Puig screen made it perfect in terms of wind protection and clean air, but it impaired forward vision (and got in the way standing).

I've gone back to stock screen and TT spoiler. This I have found to be the best compromise between protection, buffeting and clear vision. Plus, you can quickly remove the spoiler on a hot day to get cooling air (and flies) on your neck and face.

It is worth looking at disturbing the airflow coming up round the forks. My combination of spotlights on GULG brackets and handlebar bag seem to have done enough of a job in this respect.

Best way forward though is to experiment with card, tape, cable ties and old visors (as mentioned). Lash up different permutations of screen height/spoiler angle and see how it goes; then buy whatever setup is closest to your solution (or make something more permanent yourself).

Hi I am 6'7" tall I tried a skidmarks screen but I found that noisy then I picked up a givi screen from ebay and that was better but I still needed to were earplugs but the big difference came when at this years TT I went to a stand selling helmets and they offered a head sizing service where they offered to measure your head and find a helmet to suit. The helmet they sold me is to suit my head size and shape I must admit I was very sceptical at first but they assured me.
I have to admit that they were spot on and now no longer use earplugs as it has made so much difference and no problem even at speeds in the 80 to 90mph range.

If I duck my head down a bit it's much better but feels wrong on this style of bike, going to try a spoiler first and see what happens

Just ordered a puig one so see how I get on when it turns up

I have a tall Puig screen and its great. I can sit at 80 open faced and be fine.

I am 6ft with short legs and a long body so the standard screen was just too low for me.

The Puig screen should help although the trim around the outside came off mine but thats no problem.

well 1st time out today and it works! still running it in but i went up to 70-75 and it was lovely, used to come in about 60-62 ish before, ive adjusted at work to a different position and will give it a better test on way home, i will be able to stop and try different settings tonight but ive got to say the 1st one i tried was so much better, ive found as well that after about an hour that my head starts hurting around my forehead but it is a new helmet for this bike, doesnt feel to tight but i will be amazed if it cures that as well. i have to stop, take helmet off, wait for about a minute then put it back on and i can do another hour, been biking for nearly 30 years and ive never experianced it before, its the new GIVI helmet thats like 7 in one with removable chin guard, peak, etc, be a shame if it is the helmet because i realy like it apart from the pain!

I like this setup but would like to go a bit further....ie
Has anyone seen a retractable screen so you have a half height screen for offroad and then the outside screen (like the MRA deflector but larger about 50% of a standard screen) then extends up to give large and adjustable coverage for road and higher speed touring?
I know I could make it by cutting down my screen about 10cm and then fitting a MRA xscreen mount but have a longer and wider screen attached.
Just curious if there is already something available and if not...why not? Opinions?
