Help please....
Tried to fit my R&G Hot Grips today. Everything was going fine, old grips off no problem and found switched live. However the new grips are to long. Have spoken to supplier and would appear R&G and oxford grips are same length. Have spoken to my Yamaha Dealer who confirmed the grips on the XT are shorter than most standard grips. There are official Yamaha ones at 170, which they can keep at that price.
How have you guys fitted them as I don't believe they can be cut down. As a second point, could not even get the left grip on. The bars have a pitted effect and even heating up the grip and covering with WD40, the grip would only slide on about half way. If there is no way of fitting going to return for refund. |
Don't now about yours, but i've before shortened ~5mm of saito grips. Had to cut the end anyway to because of the hand guard.
How much are they to long ? You might be able to move the throttle housing and clutch base enough inwards ? |
To long by about 5mm. Was looking at moving the switch gear etc inwards but was not sure how easy to do....
