Tenere Light Brackets

Guys,

A couple of people have asked about the steel mounting brackets fro extra lights in the last few weeks.

To remind you, this is what they look like

http://www.smokingtailpipes.com/Gall...racketsWEB.jpg

They are made from mild steel, primed and painted in plasticoat paint. Unlike other brackets, they do not attach to the headlight sub-assembly, but directly to the mountings in the headstock, so very stable.

They put the lights here ->

I had ceased production of these as they were no longer wanted, but with the interest in the last few weeks I am considering a production run. It's a bad time of the year to be painting these so it will take a little time.

It's November 12th today, I am going to source the necessary parts at the end of this week.

If you would like a set, or would like to register an interest please let me know. As always, XT660.com members will get the brackets pretty much at cost price, depending on the cost of materials, probably around 30. The more that want them, the cheaper the material costs will be.

By registering an interest, I'm not going to hold you to an order, at least not until I know the final cost. I'm happy to send these out anywhere in the world, subject to postage costs being picked up by the receiver.

Either send me a PM, or add a post here, I'll collect numbers and do the maths.... In the event of an over run, I'll offer them up here for a slight margin, or put them on eBay.

This is going to be the only production run for a while ( I have other projects needing attention)

Hi mate,
I would like a set of these light brackets. Hope u ok with PayPal payment? Postage to London, UK. Thanks JP.

duibhceK 11-11-13 20:04

I've been meaning to install some extra lights, but didn't like the design of the adv-spec too much. So if you're doing another batch of these I'm interested as well. Postage to Leuven, belgium.

The GULG-o-tech brackets are very good indeed. Much better than any off the shelf variety. Heartily recommended.

speedlime 11-11-13 23:44

Yep - I have the same Lamps now (and for what it's worth, I wouldn't pay the money for them)

Looks like I'm going to be a busy boy.....

With the Vision-X the only ones worth getting IMO are the 10 degree spots (with the convex lens in the centre, not the diffuser). As GULG SAYS, the 30 degree, 15/45 elliptical and the flood just don't produce enough focused light on the road; you get a lot of scatter and glare.

I agree with the price too (in the UK). If you can get them from the US and avoid import duty (which I was lucky enough to do), they are a fair deal.

Rogerang 12-11-13 15:30

I'm in for a set. Roger from Singapore, hope PayPal is not a problem.

JayB 12-11-13 22:51

Oh Yes!

I'll Have a set please GULP!
Can you recommend the lights to fit please? And where I might get them from? Cheers.. J

Gas_Up_Lets_Go 15-11-13 09:14

OK,

9 sets, plus one for me mate who doesn't know he needs them yet... (or hasn't said hello yet either :violence:)

I'd better get mesen down to the steel merchants..... bigwink

SimonRoma 15-11-13 09:18

marques 15-11-13 11:52

We tried to figure out a way, but the X (and R) are just too different. About the only option you have with these is to replace the mirrors with the ones with indicators in them, then mount aux lights to the indicator mountings.

Based on 1Kg in a 20x15x7 package, it comes in around 30 for the courier, so over 60 in total and there may well be other charges to include (import duty etc). It might be cheaper for you to get a local engineering company to make you a pair, I can send dimensions.

In that case wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to mount the lights on the handlebars of the X and R instead?

rs steve 19-11-13 23:50

I will take one as well please, paypal not a problem
Steve

hebbo 20-11-13 00:02

I would be interested in one please. Paypal or bank transfer is all right.
Which lights would you recommend to fit?

Cheers

marques 21-11-13 13:40

Thanks for making the effort to find out how much the postage will be.

Hannu 26-11-13 08:35

If I'm not too late I would like a pair of brackets to please, could even collect as you not far away from me.
As above I was looking at Vision lamps however can anyone suggest what the best VFM lamps are at the moment ?

soundhound 03-12-13 20:34

i would also like a set please? but what lamps fit thease??

sweller 03-12-13 22:00

I'd be interested in a set of brackets too - I'd also be interested in what are considered best value lights to fit to them.

SimonRoma 04-12-13 10:53

I bought a set of GIVI lights and they were only about 100 Euros, but I was planning to fit the GIVI engine bars to hold the lights. Your solution is a great one but I dont wanna change the mirrors. Any other solution?????

penfold 15-12-13 00:05

Hi,

Noob to the forum and the bike, but I'd be interested in a set if you're still looking to produce them. Nearly forgot, advice on lights would be good too.

Thanks,

Tenere Light Brackets

I like the look of your light brackets. I live in Australia and ride often at night through eucalyptus forests that are full of kangaroos. These animals are stupid and run out of the bush straight at the bike and the standard headlight on the Tenere is less than perfect for spotting Skippy. Are you still making your brackets and if so will you sell me a set so I can install some LED aux lights? I have been getting ideas from this forum for quite some time now and find your ideas and conversations most helpful.

darkhelmet 17-06-15 11:49

I might be interested too. But i'll have to figure out if the interfere with my WP fork and brakeline that runs along te fork.

I've not made any for a few years, but did consider shipping to Aus a while ago. Unfortunately, as they are steel the shipping cost is just daft.

I don't think they would interfere.

Somewhere I have the plans for them, thy are very very simple if you have access to a welder. The best I can do is to put the plans up and you guys can get your own made up.

I'll take a look tonight

Dukeninja 17-06-15 14:27

Hi mate, are these brackets light-specific or can anything be mounted on them? I realise you haven't made any for some time, but if you have a set lying around I'd gladly take them off your hands.

Cheers!
DN

Being an old farmer I can make anything, in fact if I had not received a reply from you that is exactly what I was going to do, make my own. Your plans will give me the angles and length of pieces saving time and effort. Thanks!

Here you go, instructions I wrote up a few years ago.

darkhelmet 18-06-15 18:38

Thanks!

Mirador 19-06-15 02:05

Gas-Up-Lets-Go you are very generous, these brackets are by far the best solution to mounting driving lights so they are protected from the usual bumps and slides of adventure riding. Thank you very much.

photographicsafaris 27-06-15 10:14

where to wire the lights in

Hi GLUG,

Any chance you could share with where / how to wire the lights in?

Preferably with photos for idiot proof instruction

Gas_Up_Lets_Go 27-06-15 14:09

No problem, once I get home on Monday!

MarkXT 21-10-16 04:43

I know I'm resurrecting an old thread, but any chance there is going to be another run of these?

Gas_Up_Lets_Go 21-10-16 09:55

There's just no demand, especially as there are other mounting solutions available now.

I did put some basic instructions together, you'll need access to a welder though - Attached.

MarkXT 21-10-16 12:18

Yeah got the instructions cheers, unfortunately I don't have access to anything so I'll get a few feelers out.

Riggers 11-01-18 06:48

G'day,

What are the chances you still do these? If so, what are the costs to get a set to Australia (Melbourne)

Cheers,

About the same as England bringing the Ashes home....

The instruction to build them are attached to post #29 on page 3 of this thread, any metal shop could knock them up for you cheaper than the cost of shipment to Aus

Sprocket3rtr 11-01-18 20:20
