Pretty simple. You'll get a kit, and in it will be a ballast resistor (for each bulb). This just needs hiding up somewhere on the bike. Most I've seen on the Tenere are hidden behind the protective plastic tank covers. The ballasts will come prewired and attached (or ready to attach) to the HID bulb holders supplied.

They only consume 22w and are much brighter and come with a dedicated fan, but little worried about the headlamp plastics and the colour temp
But looking at the above blog its too good to be true

Three lights okay?

The "too good to be true" part is a bit of a worry! ;)

I'll be interested to see how you get on with it. Keep us posted with the results.

You will get a very bright light for this set up but unlike single filamant bulbs going from dip to main will leave quite a time without good light. I know.
..................oh and by the way they are so hot that you will burn the silvering off the reflector. I know and have the proof.
I'm personally fitting Vision X stuff, expensive but good.

Thanks for the heads up, got me worried. Did you have the heat sinks and fans installed with bulbs and if so did you have the heat sinks, out in the fresh air by drilling a hole in the access cap?

Steve - you must have missed my posts earlier in this thread about excess heat, glare etc. ;)

Exactly what I have. Together with +50% 55W H7 bulbs, it's more than enough light for most conditions and all for a modest level of power consumption.

@ marques - Steve isn't talking about LED headlamps, he's referring to HIDs, which don't get anywhere near as hot as LEDs and don't need fans. I think you are the first person to attempt to fit high power LEDs to a Tenere? You are venturing into somewhat unknown territory! Which makes it all the more interesting - someone's got to be first!

Hey SingleMinded, which 35W Xenon kit do you got and how long have you had it? Might go for that myself but I'd like to know which one of these sold in Ebay are worth buying. I'm told that with some cheaper aftermarket Xenon lights (for cars), the ballast's break too soon.

These are LED-lights. I have no experience with these. Like said I used to run H7 Xenon (HID indeed, think they were from Pilot) in low and high beam. Because of the light-switch-mod there is no black out when switching to high-beam ... 'cos low beam stays on.

I also had heated grips and never had problems with that once I ditched 3 sets of Oxford-grips and went for www.cls200.de solution (though I don't think it ever was able to heat to the max because of the limited power available). Notice that it is not often that you'll be riding with high-beam on for a long period of time.
