i'm new to the site but after a day or two of reading the wealth of posts i had to join up :) I'm from Liverpool, UK. ride an XT660Z and have only really started thinking about mods in the last week or two. recently i removed the snorkel from the air filter. bit confused why some people have been cutting theirs up? the thing popped right out of the plastic holder with no fuss for me and i reckon with a bit of seductive teasing it would pop back in. the only damage was done to my thumb when i accidentally pinched it, but hey i'm a burly biker... hell i barely even cried for more than 5 minutes :P

also ordered a new DNA filter and the Kev fuel mod so i'm waiting on tenterhooks for them to arrive .

anyway, looking fwd to reading more of the topics

That's because if you remove the whole thing the filter doesn't seal properly, as the bottom part of the snorkel forms the sealing ring.

Welcome mate, Get yourself a foam filter, Uni filter I think, then it will seal no worries. They come standard with the Z over here in Oz :BaseballHat_LNY2EG:
