Change lock washer?

I have ordered a new drive line (sprockets and chain) and according to the service manual you should straighten the lock washer to be able to remove the nut that holds the sprocket in place.. So far so good. According to the manual you should also replace the lock washer.. But I have not ordered a lock washer and don't know where to get one in my area..

My question, do you always replace this part when changing sprocket or can I reuse it? (When straightened, bent it back in "locked" position..)

Thanks in advance!

You should always replace as the repeated bending will fatigue the metal. You would be OK to reuse it in the very short term, just to get on the road, but get one ordered and fitted as soon as possible. They're cheap even from a Yamaha dealer.

I haven't on my XTR yet... but on my other dirt bikes where I change engine sprockets quite often I do... buy 3 at a time.. like $6 each for the TTR250

For the prise off them.. it can't hurt to replace it..

Change them when the tabs fall off. Should be good for a few changes before that.
