I've seen this before on several bikes and i was the cause.

A long time ago i did my work experience at a bike dealer in the workshop. My job was to go around and fill the new bikes up with oil. So i did this.

but nobody told me...i was 15...that bikes have places for opil and places for water/coolant.

I filled the coolant bottles of ten bikes with engine oil.

What you are seeing looks 100% to me like somebody at predelivery filled it with the wrong stuff.

When did you get it? Was it in the spring when the school kids do work experience?

The stuff you are getting out is not oil with water in it but coolant with a little bit of oil in it.

Went for a decent ride today & the new Rad cap seems to have stopped the leak.
Coolant in the coolant bottle still looks normal, so looks like all is well with the world:bounce016:

The dealer seems to agree with Mike101, somebody topped the coolant bottle up with oil.

Only thing I didn't understand from the Mechanics job sheet was the note "CO value re-set to 6.0 was 2.5

Was Mike's younger brother working in that dealership by chance??????? Hehehehe

Just re-read my old post and thought I would finish the tale....

To pick up the tale at the end of September 2013....
Another weekend ride and I find that the Rad cap replaced by the dealer didn't fix the leak and following a 60 mile ride, I found coolant running down the front of the Rad and down the side of the bike and a puddle under the bike in the garage.

So we move into October and the bike is again collected by Wigan Yamaha. A week or so later it's dropped back off after finally having had a new rad fitted!

I managed one ride in early November and the new radiator seems to have fixed the leak.

As way of an apology, the dealer knocked 10% of the price of some Yamaha handguards........

One ride in 2014, completely fed up with Yamaha and disillusioned with the bike. And I'm Still wondering about the mystery oil in the coolant that was never solved.

So, the bikes now been traded in.
XT bit's are currently listed on ebay (gromitt2000) and I'm going to see if BMW's Customer Service is any better than Yamaha.

THE END

Cheers Guy's, ride safe.
