immobiliser

insurance wants to know make of my 09 xt660x immobiliser, am I correct in saying it will be YISS , and are they Thatcham approved,

Just had this bulls**t from my insurance company on renewal
Had a email saying it's not on the thatchem list and I needed to call there recommend company to have one fitted
After a phone call to them with me explaining that it's factory fitted item from Yamaha, if you've not got the key it's not going anywhere as it's coded to the ecu, and it was good enough last year, then they needed to except it,
They agreed it would be fine, after being on hold 15 minutes,
I can't see why it's not on the thatchem list,
As far as I know all cars and bikes after 2000 or something had to have some kind of immobilizer and be approved and was fine
Guessing you've got the same company as me by the sounds of it,

xt660 immobiliser and cdi

Hello my 2007 XT660x needs a new immobiliser and cdi. They are very expensive to order from YAMAHA dealerships. I tried finding used parts but I cannot find both the parts from a single bike. Do they need to come from the same bike or can you match parts from different bikes?

Thanks in advance

Key and ecu have to match, they do pop up on eBay now and again

Sp0g3r4 08-10-13 19:37

thank you

Hello, I was in a hurry and ordered an ecu with a part number of 5vk-8591a-10 where as mine is 5vk-8591a-01. My mechanic said that the lead does not match the one on the bike's electrical installation. Is there a way round this?

Sounds like your 07 XTX is actually a 2006 bike, without the 02 sensor?

The -10 ECU you bought has single spark ignition and reads from the O2 sensor in the closed loop. Your bike needs either the -00, -01 or the white spot -00 ECU as it has a wasted spark ignition system and no closed loop/02 sensor. The looms/plugs are different so as the different types of cannot be fitted to the wrong bike.

Yeah must be. I was checking the Yamaha online parts list and you are right. Thank you

2007> second hand loom with O2 sensor & weld O2 bung into exhaust header or fit the correct ECU.
