I've gutted the entire exhaust can, not just removed the can but as "GULG " says the fuel gauge is rubbish.
I regularly get the fuel trip flashing on between 180 to 220 mile and run it to 270 before filling up and then finding it takes 19 litres- meaning 4 litres left in the tank. Which is probably another 60 to 80 miles? So I think it's not unreasonable, if you fill the tank right up, to get 300 miles out of it- so whats that per gallon? I don't care it's better than the car and more fun! |
Well at least u guys with the Tenere have a fuel guage, we poor XTX fellows just get a red light which comes on to indicate reserve and then the trip starts to tell us how many kms we have done since the light started to glow.......AND we have only 10 litres to reserve and then another 5, which means that I get a fairly constant 200kms to reserve and then up to another 100 before I need to fill up, but I hate the red light so I usually tank up between 200 and 250kms.......

My XTR gets 23/24km per liter.....

During the last 2.5 weeks on a 5200km trip to and through ex-Yugoslavia my little Ten used 4l/100km (or 25km to the liter if you prefer). Pretty happy with that, especially while riding through Italy where prices were up to 1.82/l :o
On the few motorway stretches consumption tended to rise to 4.5-5 l per 100km. |
what I do
Hi guys, you all have fuel gauges which is a luxury, I have been running an XR and have recently been to wales for an off road extravaganza...
The only way I could get an accurate reading was to take some fuel out with me and run the old girl dry (and I mean dry) hit reserve and then slosh the tank over to get the last dregs out and keep starting her and getting as far as I could.... then there you have it, your absolute maximum range for that particular driving style.... the trip never lies but it would seem your fuel sender can.... |
