XT660Z Tenere Rear Spring
 

Owning a 2008 Tenere, and after 40,000km something seems not to work properly in the rear absortion system.
Had it a service done (oil change etc) but the problem is there.
Most Tenere owners in my country change the spring an about 30,000km. In your country?

Anyway, I have been looking for a spring and I have found in the same price (90�) a HYPERPRO(non-linear) and a OHLINS(linear).
Considering that I use my tenere for everyday tasks, tourism and offroad driving which one is the best choice?

(I had read that non-linear is the best choise for tourism but not for dirt bikes, I'm confused :confused: )

p.s. do I have to change to a different oil in the suspention?

I'm not an expert, but I think that the gas just disappeared, and now I only ride on the spring. I ordered complete new shock from Wilbers for 420 euro. But if you are somewhere in Europe, than I guess there is an option of rebuilding the stock shock, is there?

Nice ride!
I had the damper serviced, the oil and gas is all fixed.
I have ride without gas and it is totally different experirence!

Does anybody now what is the air (nitrogen) pressure in stock rear shock in Ten? I pumped it up to 11 bar with my small on the bike compressor, and I think it is slightly better. I am now in UB, and could try to find somebody with bigger compressor. Cheers, Greg

You aren't far off. 10-12 bar (150-175psi) is about right for this type of shock.

Thanks Pleiades, so I guess, either the spring is worn out, or the oil leaked out. I found some guys here in UB that work with shocks ( http://www.kingmotors.mn ), maybe they will be able to help me out. At the end, Wilbers canceled my order (without informing me), because in remarks I stated I need it for offroad. They don't do offroad shocks for small Ten. Probably when I go back to Europe I will have to chip out couple of hundreds for �hlins...

How about a Yacugar/Hyperpro shock? They're good and half the price of the Swedish stuff. Might be worth a try getting one shipped out to Ulan Bator? The nearest dealer to you is in Taiwan:

Thanks again for the info. However, I think that I will just continue the trip (going slower) on the weaken spring. It is still ridable, it's just a bit less fun because I have to be more careful. I'll be back in Europe at the beginning of September and then I will look at the �hlins and hyperpro.

I know a company in Munich, which does rear damper servicing.

The price for a complete service of the Sachs Damper is roughly 150,- Euro, without spring!
