Spring loaded chain tensioner

Hi there,

Just a thought has anyone thought of or even used a spring loaded tensioner on the Tenere? I was looking at my dirt bike today and I reckon it might be possible to do....... thoughts/comments appreciated:sign13:

Thats so early 80s...
A few bikes had them..For some reason they went
out of favor.. I surspect it was only really needed on
bikes with a large gap between engine sprocket &
swing arm pivot... After all the bigger that gap is the
more free chain that is required..

Have a go..nothing to lose

I just thought that it may take up some of the slack in the chain, as when I adjust my chain to what I believe is the correct tension, it always seems far to slack?

What I have done... don't always do it...
put a tie down between the swing arm
& rear rack..pull the rear down till the
front sprocket/swing arm pivot / rear axle
are in line.. adjust the chain at that point
so theres only a little bit of play...
when you let the tie down off... you can
measure the play in the chain....
