XT660X clutch problem
Hiya gang, my 2 year and 20k old XTX has recently developed a symptom I have not had before on this one nor on my 2 previous XTXs. The clutch lever now comes almost half way to the handlebar with no feel, and all of the clutch action is then in the second half of the movement. Also I see that where the clutch goes down into the engine on the rhs the lever is no longer at 90 degrees but is now at about 120 degrees. And of course the clutch no longer disengages correctly so I need to find neutral quickly when I come to a halt.
Is this a big job to correct??? Thanks for any help guys and all the best, Simon |
maybe the arm has turned on the shaft..if not then
I would pop the side cover off have a look in there... any noises ? look for things like main clutch hub nut come lose / colapsed bearing in the pressure plate.. At that mileage I wouldn't think the clutch plates should be that worn...unless you do alot of clutch slipping... Lay the bike on it's side when you remove the cover as there is quite a bit of oil in there even though it's a dry sump motor.. |

Ultimately it's all guesswork - the true answer lies behind that cover... ;) |
Hi Simon
Have you had the clutch cover off, and did you notice the problem some time after ? |
Hiya and thanks to all....
Hiya guys and many thanks and I too feared something drastic but........I just tried adjusting the cable at the lower end (next to the engine) using 2x13mm spanners, and it has come back!!!!!!!!! Phew, and thanks again!!
