Rapid bike easy, has anyone got one?
Hi guys, greetings from Finland. Been searching, but dont seem to find the answer. My bike is 2011 xtx, with arrow slipons, DNA stage 1&2 and the rapid bike easy. Just fitted the stage 1&2 the other day and blocked the AIS. Works well and sounds nice.
Before i fitted the stage 1&2, the fuel ratio switch in the rapid bike modulator was set to +2 as the manual recomended with slipons. So my question is, do i need to adjust it upwards since it now gets more air? Great forum by the way, keep it up! |
Firstly - Welcome to XT660.com :006:

Thanks Pleiades, i had the same thoughts. I have it now set to +3, that is as far as the trimmer goes. Will try it out as soon it stops raining...
But i would still like to know more about the device, since there is so little info around. So any info is welcome. There are two trimmers, first goes from 1 to 7 and says "setting". Setting for what? Manual says to set it "6 for stock bikes, 5 for bikes with aftermarket exhaust". What does that trimmer do? Should that go down with the stage 1&2? Second trimmer says "fuel ratio", so thats a dead giveaway. It goes from -3 to +3. Manual doesnt explain anything, its A4 piece of paper. It only shows how to install it, and the recomended settings for the trimmers with aftermarket pipes. Emailed dimsport(manufacturer) but they seem to be busy with something else. |
Ok, took it for a test drive for about 100km. Maybe its just me, but seems to be running smoother, more responsive to throttle and the engine sounds better. Also felt like there is more low end torque, never been so easy to pop a wheelie, or maybe its just because of the better throttle response. So it was probably running a bit lean.
Still, i would like some input from anyone who have the same setup as me. I cant be the only one, or can i?:lurk: |
Well how is it wired into the bike ??
I'd guess it does a similar job to a Kev mod, but in a much more expensive way |
Only Rapid bike I've come across is the same as a PC,but never gained the popularity that a PC has.

1) Rapid Bike "Evo" works exactly like a PC (upload and tune different maps via an interface.) 2) Rapid Bike "Easy" just links to AIT sensor (as Kev mod) and gives different resistances to choose from to fool the ECU into richening/weakening the mixture - that parts simple. However, it also connects to the O2 sensor, but what it actually does to the signal sent to the ECU I haven't a clue - is it an eliminator, modulator, controller...? |
I have the Rapid bike easy, i would have gone with pc but this came with the bike so im going with this.
Here is the link to dimsport, if somebody is interrested: http://www.dimsport.com/rapidbike/ra...f0815f6fd821f4 |
Close to a Kev fuel mod + O2 controller but not quite, the difference is my O2 controller will never run the bike richer than 13.2:1, this A/F ratio controller is running below 13:1 after 3600rpm which their graph displays & is running richer & richer this would show on a Dyno a bike loosing power as it got further away from 13.2:1 + high fuel consumption.:bricks: My fuel mod is adjustable for varied mods.
My O2 controller always keeps the A/F ratio parallel to the input signal, I can't see why they want it to run richer & richer below 13:1 as the revs go up. |
Thank you Kev for clearing that up. But this will work for me at the moment, right? Do you have any clue what the first trimmer does that i talked about earlier in this topic?
This is a bit offtopic, but has anybody fitted a turbo on the XT? I could get a second hand engine basically for free and i was thinking of a project. My friend has it on a gocart, but now he wants to fit an R1 engine on it. It,s from -07 bike and has little miles on it. |
Just today noiced an advert for the Easy Bike in Moto Sprint (I had never noticed it before) and they seem to have a racing version as well as the 2 you mentioned.....

I've just spoken with RapidBike dealer in Poland and I think I have some more clarity about RB, so:
1. RB Easy - its basically Kev Mod without Oxygen optimizer, what means Kev O2 mod is needed to control AFR in both loops. RB dealer did not recommend this module for xt660z 2. RB Evo - its functionally equivalent of Kev Fuel Mod plus Oxy Optimizer. It works differently from Kev's devices. It builds 2 separate maps for both loops....and to my suprise this solution is also not recommended for xt660z, as this is enduro/adventure bike (varaible conditions - temp, fuel, filtetrs, dust etc) with narrow band oxy sensor, what means that autotune is ca 100-150km (in off road condition can change 1000 times during 100km) 3. Solution which is recomended is RB Evo + autotune module with wide band sensor (oryginal sensor stays as it is). Check is 50 times per second, so even if your filter goes dusty, or temp drops down by 20C or anything else, than values will be adjusted immediatelly (as I understood there is constant comaparison with AFR values saved in table) Cost in Poland: 1. 240EUR 2. 520EUR 3. 780EUR Kev - for your information - RB dealer said, that you can decide, what is your desired range of AFR. If you want to go power-side (lower) or economy (higher) For me - te only solution which gives Kev's flexibility in adv riding (PCV is not an option) is RB plus second oxy sensor, but price......... |
