Hi

I know I'm a newbie here but I've been working with a company called Rugged Roads for the last few years. I'm a designer and have a back for getting what the community want on their bikes for the best price.
What I'm looking for are what you would like to see guarded on your bike?
I know touratech and the other big brands have plenty to go on but I started designing after I almost bought a touratech guard for an astronomical amount out of very thin aluminium and wait three weeks for it.
Rugged Roads are a young company that are self funding and use all British manufacturing to boot. They also aim to deliver in 2 to 3 days.
They will have a range of ten products launching in the next couple of months so please keep an eye on the website.
Anyway back to the real question, what would YOU like to see protected.

Some protection from the pish-taking when one falls off would be dead handy - you could corner the market on that! ;)

On a more serious note, I can't really think of anything that isn't already being made (but I suppose you could always do it better/cheaper/faster though). If you're handy at fabrication and design, the one thing that does annoy me about the Tenere (that could have been fabricated/designed better by Yamaha) is the headlamp subframe - it is weak, vibrates all over the place and isn't really ideal to mount GPS/navigation/roadbook/what-have-you on.

Although its not protection it's a mini screen extender that doesn't cost near �100. I looked at these when I had my r and near died when I seem the price for what they are.

This is just what I need, better cheaper and faster our the aims of Rugged Roads, not taking this Pi** on the price is a biggie.
Screen extenders are a horrendous price. We'll take a look.

To be frank, the Tenere crashes really well without unnecessary add-ons. The OE bash plate is stronger than it looks, it just doesn't cover a great enough area or provide a stable platform for raising the bike. I doubt you could add much extra value here and you'd be playing into a market that already has established players.
The hand guards are well covered too.
The screen, although a little more choice in shape and airflow would be nice, but not essential.

I think the niche market for the Tenere is the tail end. There are two tail tidies available, one is pug uggly (IMHO) the other looks like it may have some weak spots, although this is just a guess on my part as the haven't been out long enough to establish longevity.

MTC make a popular single end can, this leaves a space under the bike which could be exploited to give some much needed storage capacity.

A cheaper yolk setup, that makes use of some easily available front forks might appeal. Yes there are products available, but not everyone wants top of the range racing forks, a mid way improvement over the OE ones would interest some people.

Just thinking aloud, trying to give you some food for though....

I've just ordered my new rear shock from a company called Rugged Roads, would that be the same guys?

Lighting for me, there's loadsa options out there but anything half decent seems to cost an arm and a leg.

Yip..cheaper yoke set up...I find my forks flex too much side to side,due to that heavy front wheel,when riding off road or even slowly.

I would agree with both of the above. Something to clean up the hole that the standard exhaust leaves and that acts as extra storage at the same time. Sold separately and perhaps in a package deal with a single side can.

Also a decent package deal with fog/DRL led lights including all necessary wiring, switch and bracket would be nice.

A bigger boot gaurd would be nice . i keep burning the heel of my boots on the muffler
