Tail Tidy
 

Has anyone got any feedback/review on these as an alternative to the R&G or OTR tail tidies. Slightly cheaper than R&G and appear to retain the look of the OEM light which I prefer. Thinking of getting one myself. Cheers.

If i was to go through the hassle of changing the tail unit though i would only do it if it was lighter. (by a doesnt amount)

Definitley looks better than the R&G one.

Does this utilise the standard rear lights then?

I bought my R&G over 3 years ago, so there was no choice other than to butcher the original unit which I didn't want to do.

Good to have a choice and for sure my R&G weighs almost nothing.

The reply from them is "The tail tidy has been designed so that the original brake light and indicators are used".

Hopefully it's not too hard a job to do.

I prefer the R&G, but anything's better than the original jobbie..

ive never taken the OEM tail tidy off but ive heard its suprisingly weighty.

So i guess with this one, you take the old one off but remove the lights and fit them to the new tail tidy??

Interestingly I was reluctant to chop mine about thinking that I'd be butchering a really expensive part, but I have subsequently found out that the OE Yamaha tail unit is just �37.62 including VAT from your dealer! Cheap compared to the �70 for either the R&G or Shamighmoto ones. As I like garden shed engineering I think I might buy an OE unit and have a play...

I think I might do the same. One of our antipodean cousins put plans up on the forum for a bracket for the indicators that he fitted to a chopped OE tail section, I'll have a search, as it was brilliantly simple.

As I would be fitting a single MTC exhaust and didn't want a tool tube on the other side I decided to take the plunge and this is how the tail tidy looks. The OE brake light is held partly in place by double sided tape onto the plate but I'm not convinced, so some tie-wraps will be used as well. I've included a pic with the Great Basin saddlebags as I was concerned they would touch the exhaust but there seems to be just about enough clearance though I might fit the heat shield as a precaution anyway. Wow the exhaust.... it's LOUD !!! I've got to be just a bit wary of dropping the revs too much when changing down as I have managed to stall it twice already on a short run this afternoon.
