Having already owned a 660 Tenere, IMHO the R version of the 660 kicks ass. Lighter (easier to pick up without popping a vertebra when you drop it), more flickable and you get than wind in yer face effect with it not having a fairing.
Came with a set of Arrow cans which, even with baffles in, are a tad loud! Knobblies are next on the shopping list.

Y'know, I am on my fifth XT (of all kinds) and my second XTR, having had all manner of bikes at various times, and I still think the XTR is one of the handsomest bikes I have ever had. Like you, I prefer bikes without a screen these days. If it makes you slow down a bit, that's no bad thing.

When I brought the current XTR home, I missed my footing when stopping to open my gate, and it gently toppled onto its crash bars. It was an easy lift back upright and no harm done. I have also dropped a Pan European on its side and lifted that back on my own, and I never want a heavy bike again.

That second pic is gorgeous.

Nice piccies.

Not dropped the tenere yet but had dropped my old xtr once or twice which was wee buns to lift up. Also yea I've lifted a pan European on my own and near popped my hips doing it

Believe me when I tell you that after that relatively short ride on a forest trail, the machine was minging.

Today I made & fitted a front mud flap after checking all the front end bearings, seeing as the snow has made a another visit this far north, so getting out and about on two wheels was less than advisable.
