Advice needed???

Hi all,

Decided to bite the bullet and get the bike back on the road rather than sell up. I've got a front and rear avon sat in the garden, roughly 3mm accross all tyre tread. Are these ok to pass
MOT?

Also need a new rear brake lever anyone got one or know where I can get one other than forking out for Yamaha prices?

What do I need to be checking to make sure it passes its MOT?

Also general checks as it been in the garage since November.

Cheers

Chris

3mm of tread is fine. Believe it or not the legal limit is just 1mm for motorcycles!

Brake lever – OTR do one at 45 euro, which is almost exactly the same price as the Yamaha part (which is 40 from AJ Sutton). I don’t know of any anyone selling a pattern part?

As for the MOT, trouble is most likely going to come from the areas where grease was in short supply on the Tnr. Check swing arm/shock linkage play, steering head and wheel/sprocket carrier bearings. Other than that all the usual stuff on any motorcycle/car.

If it’s been laid up since November fresh oil would be a good move and a filter if it that wasn’t changed last service.

Make sure the battery is in good shape and well charged.

Don't have anything to add to Pleiades post, just wanted to say I'm glad you've seen sense ;-)

Aye I'd miss it too much! Im sure it will be worth scrimping for in order to keep it going.

On another note, has anyone got a rear TKC 80 /Karoo (I think Metzler equivalent) going for sale?

Handlebar levers for sure.

Chris needs a rear lever/pedal. Sourcing a straight secondhand one on ebay would be like finding rocking horse sh1t! ;)

I've got two with just over 3mm on them.

I usually ditch them at about 4mm but haven't got the heart to throw them away.

I would happily let you have them for free............................but how to get them to you as I'm very busy at the moment and working 7 days a week.

Any ideas?
