Hello from Gold Coast, QLD Australia
Been looking for a worthy XT660R for a while and finally found a very cheap broken one, a repairable write off which was missing a lot of bits.
This is what it was https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-W...03520a_20.jpeg https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-B...61433l0_20.JPG https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-A...238il7_20.jpeg This is what it is now https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-6...2B15.49.16.jpg https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-U...2B15.49.32.jpg https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-7...2B15.49.53.jpg https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-1...2B15.50.28.jpg https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-0...2B15.51.53.jpg https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-3...2B15.52.18.jpg https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-p...2B15.52.27.jpg Roadworthy is done, but have another couple of weeks before the QLD Transport vehicle inspection to get it off the repairable write off register. Once that is done I have a few farkles to go on, incouding MotoMule 2in1 exhaust, OTR bashplate, OTR rally fairing, etc, etc. Cheers Robo |
Hi and welcome to the forum
I am literally drooling at those photos |
Welcome and nice work on the XT - Looks like you're ready for a ride out then!

:006: Welcome aboard mate.
You've done a fantastic job straightening out the old girl - looks great! |
:hello: and :welcome: to :660:
Nice pics! |
Hey thanks for the welcome fellas, like the way you do that, makes me want to post some more info.
Straightening the sub frame was truly an effort, when I thought I had gone way to far with the block and tackle and smashed the joints with a hammer to release the bend, I'd let it off to check and it would spring back to it's original bent form. I had the rear wheel tied to a post, the left frame to another post and the subframe tied to another via the come along and then with a small porta power doing the cross brace under the seat. No wonder the XT660R is so heavy, it has one hell of a solid frame. https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-z...2B15.53.45.jpg This is the neighbourooney giving me a hand, 35 degree heat makes one drink a lot of beer. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-w...2B15.53.33.jpg https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-S...2B15.53.24.jpg |
Friendly neighbour who will assist on projects for a beer = essential workshop kit.
