Dick Turpin is alive

Yes I can now confirm that he is alive and working at my insurance company.

200 increase for no reason at all. The three bike I insure are all 12 months older and must have dropped in value so I cannot understand why the increase?

My only conclusion is that highway robbery is now back in vogue.

Right, where's meerkat manor?

I had the same issue with Carole Cash last year. They seem to have lost the plot recently. They used to be the best motorcycle insurer, but not any more.

im amazed every year with the crazy differences in insurance prices.

There doesn't seem to be any logic with insurance premiums. Two things I have learnt recently, 1 nothing is set in stone and there is room for negotiation, and 2 insurance companies seem to offer a good premium to new policy holders and load it up for the 2nd year.

My renewal quotes were similar to yours, but coversely It was Bennetts who more than doubled the previous years price and Carole Nash was cheaper for me!

Maybe it is "new business" discount and we have to switch every year.

Make sure you don't accept the renewal premium - ask for a new quote.

Last year's Carole Nash premium for a multi-bike policy with a K1300S and XT660R was 460. The renewal came through requesting 480. I called them and asked them to run it through the system again rather than simply quoting for the same underwriter, and the quote with a different underwriter came in at 345! Guess which one I took!

So I don't think you can always just blame the broker. Usually it's the underwriters that bump up the renewal price, but the brokers could certainly make more of an effort to when quoting for renewal.
