XT660X Restricted
Hello to all,
I purchased an XT660X of 2006 a few months ago, and I suspect that it is restricted :( Do you know how can I tell if it is restricted? Thank You |
Get it on a dyno? Depending on what bike you had before you may think it has been restricted as they are a bit slow.

Is it easy to hit the rev limiter ?
Mine will get front end light if I nail it in first and second I'd think it would be very slow restricted, it will either be a throttle stop type or a bung in the inlet |
See this thread....
http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?t=15251 The restrictor is a smallplate that blocks full movement of the throttle cable. Simply remove it! |
Thanks to all for the replies! I think I'm expecting to much from my bike, also considering that I weight 97kg. I was expecting that when I promptly twist the throttle, even on higher gears, the bike lifts :) it does lift but just on 1st and sometimes and second coming out very sharp bends. Talking to some friends, I noticed that I was expecting much from my bike

If you're coming from a sports bike, you'll find a big difference. 40-odd BHP compared to 100+, do the sums. However, once you get used to it you will find that you don't lose much to faster bikes on most roads. The bikes have plenty of shove, but they run out of steam just as a sports bike is getting into its stride at 80+.
Point to point speeds are identical over short journeys. It's only on longer trips that the XT takes noticeably longer. But since I am enjoying riding the XT so much, I actually prefer my journeys taking longer, if you see what I mean. Give it a few weeks to get into the XT groove. |
