Hello from Kent in the UK

Hello everyone, I got my XT660X yesterday very pleased with it. I traded in my Yam FZ1-N for it, so big difference in power!! The XT is a much more practical, usable and fun bike in my opinion. I have had a few old XT600's but never tried the 660 until now.
Looking forward to modifying and tweaking my bike using the knowledge and information from this site.

Jon

Hi mate. It's a big change to make.

I came from an R1 to the XTX and it's like learning to ride again.

I might also be looking to go back to an in-line 4 this year.

Welcome aboard!! The fun you can have with 50 horses is perhaps MORE than the fun you can have with 150 as you have a chance of mastering the 50, no chance of mastering the 150 hahahahaha.

I know what you mean! The power is much more useable on the XT, and I'll probably use all of it without losing my licence again!

The only place for the R1 or similar is on the track and even then there are few tracks where you can really use it......and of course you cannot lose your license on the track!!!

This comment is spot-on. I have gone to the ~47 bhp of the XTR from a bike with nearly three times the power. I'm having far more fun on the XTR. The 'performance package' of the XT lets me use what's there and have fun doing it. With the other bike, I rarely used all the power, and most of the time I was riding about and telling myself the bike was capable of so much more. I almost felt guilty for wasting it. I've come to the conclusion that big horsepower and big top speeds are not what my riding is about.

Yep, I totally agree. With more and more unmarked cop cars and speed cameras popping up everywhere its a nightmare trying to do silly speeds. I've been banned twice for speeding on my bikes, it's not worth the hassle any more. Bring on the twisties :-)
