ECU query
Regarding the XTR snatchy fuelling issue:
I have recently returned to the fold with a 2006 XTR. In 2007, I owned a 2004 model. The 04's low speed fuelling was pretty horrible and probably the only thing to spoil an otherwise excellent bike. The 2006 bike is far better in this regard, although not perfect. I understand that Yamaha have improved the fuelling over the years and got it pretty much right from 2007 on (anyone confirm that?). My question is - if I can get hold of a good ECU from a later bike, would it be a straight swap for the 06 unit? And if so, why isn't everyone doing it? Not an urgent question, as I am quite happy with the bike as it is, but improvements are always good, and having a 'spare' ECU for longer trips would be peace of mind too. |
Need the keys and lock set to match for the immobilizer, at least

2006 & 2007 wiring looms are different, a 2007 ECU will not plug into a 2006 loom as the plugs are completely different.
If you are using a new 2007> ECU it will program to a 2006 immob & keys. After all that you will still need to control the O2 sensor for the 2007> ECU, to do that you will need Dyno jets O2 optimizer or my 2012 O2 controller. |

Game, set and match to Yamaha. Thanks for your learned advice chaps. I knew it couldn't be as simple as I thought. Ah well ... |
