If you are taking the exhaust off you need to take the tail off.

Well the first time i took the pipe of yes it all had to come off. then the next time it had to come off there was no way i was going to do that again so i did some mods.

It wad clear the pipe would come off if the plastic covers were off.
Looking at the covers i reconed they would only need the three fixing points to hold them in place, the screw holding them together looked like it done away with ;)

cue a hacksaw and i cut the middle section out then rounded them off. now i can undo the side pods and take off the pip by undoing the top two bolts by using a waterpipe pliers. in the third pic i'd taken out one of the top bolts but those need to stay in as the bracket can't come out with the pipe. the two bolts that need to come off is the ones you see that i've lossened slightly

the best thing is you can't tell that its missing when its on the bike as that part is hidden :)

You can get at the allen bolts with a allen socket and long extension.YOU could just leave the screw out LOL.:tenere:

Can't remember for sure but it was either due to the screw not able to be undone in situe or I did get it undone and they still didn't wiggle free. In fact the more I think about it I'm sure those tags were too long to fit past the pipe so got chopped.
