Help me identify ...
Just picked up the XT yesterday. It's got frame protectors, a bash plate and a rack that I can't identify. It would be helpful to know where they came from, so I know where I am at when I start to add to the accessories list :)
Engine/frame protectors - anyone recognise these? http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7f0b2845.jpg http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/...ps078e795e.jpg Bash plate: http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5d91ba78.jpg Rear rack: http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3311485b.jpg Bonus question: does anyone know what that loop at the right front of the rack is for (top centre of pic)? I know the loops underneath are for tie-downs, but the loop at the front is not replicated on the other side, so I'm guessing it has a 'special' purpose. Thanks for any information. |
Hi BD.
The sump guard and rack are genuine Yamaha accessories, and I think the under side of the rack is designed to take a U-lock. Not sure about the crash bars...Givi??, but the heal guards are standard fitment on the 660R. Cheers.... |

(Update: I have found the bars here, from bikers-discount.co.uk, no manufacturer's name, but decent quality at 99.) |
As tomsdad says the rack and bash plate are indeed yamaha, same as mine purchased from yam dealer.
The three loops under the rack are designed to take and hold a u lock, pass the u lock under the rack from front to rear going through the loop that is on the right first then through the other two before refitting the lock mechanism and it will stay in place during transit. The front loop stops the lock sliding straight through and onto the floor. Thats what my yamaha dealer informed me when I asked the same question as you. |
Brilliant! I stand corrected, and thank you for that, and sorry for doubting Tomsdad :)
Better dig the old U-lock out. I have had nowhere to carry one before! |
