Need some advices

Hey guys, got stuck on choosing between 800gs and Yama. Leaning more to Tenere tho... lol.
Whatever, here are some Qs i have, sorry, if they look a bit retarded :)

1. The durability of the Yama's frame. How strong is it. How heavy staff may i load without worrying too much. I'm going to ride alone, yeah, very egoistic, but so far, is the best option to kick ass while offroading.

2. Distance with a full tank. Comparing to GS is 8L more, but, i assume, consumption is a bit more than GS, anyways, how long may i go with a full tank considering on-road cruise speed at 120km/h.

3. Trip distance. How far did someone get with 660 Tenere and what misshaps occurred or not, except brake pad/oil/filters/change?

4. ABS. Somewhere here i've read the ABS version has less susp. travel. Is it true?

5. ABS. I've learned from here ABS on-road is a God's gift, but off the road is a piece of useless electronic junk, lol. So, can we turn it on/off on demand? If not, does a mod or a switch exist to fix the issue?

6. ABS. In case the ABSless version has more susp. travel, can we install ABS on it later and what will be the cost like?

7.What are the servicing intervals?

8. The reason i'm leaning toward xtz is that i do like more moving off the road, so the vibrations from the trail will be critical sometimes, will the plastic/bolt/nuts handle that good enough?

9. The suspension. As i understood, there is no rebound settings at all. This is kinda annoying, coz i have it on my mtb which is a top line and still half priced of it :)) Do any mods exist in the world to fix it?

10. The fuel. How does the beast consume the bad quality fuel. Do i need to reprogram it or install additional hardware or whatever? We all know, there are some extremely picturesque places in this world, but to get there, you have to ride through the lots of obstacles including the absence of gas stations and anything that reminds a-95 at all.

11. Buying a used bike, are there any special peculiarities i have to pay attention to?

12. Are there any "diseases" (peculiarities)/i love that word :)/ painful or not to this particular model, that could be cured easily and by yourself preferably?

13. Does electronic fail from time to time? Get me right, i prefer mechanic as i used to ride in dirty conditions, so kickstarter is my favorite :) weight saver :)

14. BTW, any instructions on weight loss, except going to one sided can?

So far, that's all for the moment. I'm aimed at 2011-2012 depending on the condition of the bike.
Your help will be much appreciated.
Thanks
Boggie

1. Yamaha did not save weight on the frame! Went 2 up with camping gear to Scottland for 3 weeks, no problem.
2. Normally around 480km, driving less highway can give you over 500km on one tank (24.7L).
3. 3000km, broken wire of the fuel pump under the tank, failed connector of the power regulator and a lose bold of the counterweight. (Now >140.000km on the clock)
4. Yes, ABS is lower suspension
5. No switch, but you can dismount the sensor so it does not work.
6. No
7. 10.000km small service, 20.000km big service (air+oil filter, valves)
8. It is a thumper.
9. Yes but costly, KTM front end, Ohlins rear
10. It is no F1 car, if the fuel is not to bad (read: wodka) then it will run
11. All normal maintanance performed?
12. See 3
13. See 3
14. Buy a KTM

4. Could you specify how lower is that, please? :) thanks

BMW quality is awful, on our annual road trips the only bikes that have ever stopped have been the 2 BMWs........

ABS (non-ABS)
Front travel: 160mm (210mm)
Rear travel: 145mm (200mm)
Seat height: 865mm (895mm)
Ground clearance: 205mm (260mm)

Going on the ground clearance, rather than seat height (the ABS seat is a completely different part), the difference in height would be 55mm.

(ABS is 7Kg heavier too)

Oh, thanks a ton. :)
The reason to find an ABSless version is getting more and more vital.
Looking to get one from Italy.....

Where in the world is "The Middle of Nowhere"? Are you unfortunate enough to live in one of the few EU countries where Yamaha only sells the ABS Tenere?

In the UK the ABS model was only imported for 2011, nobody bought one (well they might have found homes for one or two ;) ), so almost all used Teneres available here are "ABSless".

Unfortunately for me, i'm outside EU, in Ukraine. So, the only website i could monitor till today was mobile.de, where the most of them come with ABS. Then apparently i found out the bike would be brought from Italy, so i tried moto.it and now diggin it :)
