WP 48mm fork on my XT660R

Hello

I have searched but almost not found how to get a better suspension in front on my XTR. A perfect example not so old coming from ramarvarna and this YZ fork on his XTZ so perhaps more will see it,s not so big problem to get better suspension in front as it seems.
It,s little bit to early to write this thread because I got over another WP fork but this is how it,s now. I got over a front fork from a KTM660smc with orig brake and 320mm disc. This brake are to big for what I,am gonna use the bike for therefore I looked after another solution. I,am waiting for a black KTM690 Enduro R 2012 fork with black clamps and I will fit it with my orig brake and a 300mm disc. I looked and measure the orig clamps with does from KTM690 Enduro. Seems very the same only the stem has to be modified. A mechanic checked over the stem and we decided on 3 places on the stem gonna show you more specified when I got the picture.

The orig travel on the XTR fork are 225 mm and the KTM Enduro has 250mm, I,am gonna rise the bike in the back as well. The KTM 690 Enduro clamps are very pleased to use and modify XTR orig stem, only had to pay 50euro to got it modified the stem. What about other KTM clamps sorry I don,t know but the KTM 690 stem has a bottom screw I let the mechanic fix to be fitted on the XTR stem no problem at all and it will secure the stem for sure. I don,t know if this fork/stem/clamps will fit XTX because XTR and XTX don,t use the same stem or bearings numbers, what,s the different,s between them is should fit or does they don,t have the same frame? What is perfect with this front fork from KTM660 if it,s fit XTX is you only got to get a 17" supermoto front wheel from a KTM and it,s axle, put a hose on the brake and it,s rock,n roll. But if you wanna fit it on a 21" you have to modify the brake so it won,t hit the spokes, same modify if you got a Supermoto KTM with the big brake and want to put a 21" wheel. Will get back when I got my black forks and clamps. :toothy4:

Can,t do so much until I get my black WP. About the steering stops it works but got to put some rubber on them to not damage the color on the frame!

Here is two more picture.

Tjohooo my suspension is shipped from Germany and hope it will come soon thinking about 1-2 weeks. I,am trying to sell the other fork with clamps but many XTR owners in Sweden seems like their complete rubbish suspension in front. Trying to look after information if the fork does fit also XTX even if the have other steering bearings number but why do Yamaha use other bearings in almost same frame as XTR?

I have talked to a guy who make brake discs and he,s gonna fix a 300mm disc for me because the orig disc from KTM is to expensive and wouldn,t like a smaller disc like enduro disc. Also checked how to the adapter will be set to fit the orig brake to the KTM fork.

Of course is one of the main reason so other know how to do! :)
The brake caliper is home at my KTM shop but had to work on the other side of the country but will bring it home on friday but have some other things to do before! 300mm EBC disc is shipped from germany yesterday! :))))

I also won a auction for twin stock mufflers from a KTM 625SMC so will fit them because OTR muffler is to big.

So finally I got some time left and finish almost everything. So here is the list of what I use to do this operation! The front brake and disc are not mounted yet because I gott the wrong disc & some part to the caliper. I also mounted some riserbones in back about +35mm so we will see how it will be when I mount my 18" rim in back later. I use the original stem from my Yamaha XT660R. Let a workshop ta off some material where the bottom steeringbearings are and down to the bottom to fit the bottom clamps. Perfect about the clamps from KTM690Enduro are that under the bottom clamp there is a alu screw that you can secure the stem a little but notice the stem has to be fit on the clamp with a pressure & tell the workshop not to take off to much. Therefore you have to tell the workshop to drill a bigger hole under your XT660R steam & make the screw to fit. So there where 3 things to modify my stem. #1 make it to fit bottom clamp, #2 drill a bigger hole under yout XT stem & fit the screw, #3 let them fix a small alu ring to secure the top clamp see the picture top of the steam. This fix was very easy for the workshop and they took about 50euro for everything. I didn,t want to fix a adapter to the XT front brake caliper so I bought a KTM690Enduro caliper new for about 200euro but gonna use the original brakepump with steelhose. :041:
I have the bike inte a dark garage so it is little problem to get light so have to get another light when I gonna fix the front light and wiring and more. Had to raise the front forks when I mounted the front wheel because the bike lift is to weak for this bike. You can use any KTM690 Enduro clamp it is no diffrents between Enduro & EnduroR. Any questions?

* KTM WP fork from a KTM690EnduroR 2012
* Clamps from the same fork 690EnduroR 2012
* KTM 690EnduroR front brake caliper
* EBC brake disc
* Modified Yamaha XT660R stem
* Small ring to the top clamp

So what did this cost? With the front wheel, brake caliper, brake disc and the complete fork and the workshop fix it landed about 800Euro and if you compare to the http://www.off-the-road.de/ and there http://www.off-the-road.de/XT-660/Su...X-XT-660X.html but I can adjust my handlebar clamps and got a KTM wheel, brake caliper, brakedisc and still save more than half what there costs! :D

I have searched on many forums and this was the best solution for me and perhaps looks very expensive to do the fix with the stem but it was cheap & fast. There were one guy who had modify his XT660Z with YZ forks. He is a member here on XT660.com so search after YZ forks and you will found it.
