Rear ended!
I was waiting at a roundabout yesterday. Fluoro vest, brake light on, indicator on and stationary.
An old goose behind in a Mitsubishi just decided that the roundabout was empty and took off straight into me. I was pushed partway into the intersection minus my r/h Yamaha pannier which was lying in the road with busted mounting. It took most of the shock. I must admit I went a bit loud, saying stuff like, 'What's not to f***** see here? What does a man have to do to be seen by car-driving f888wits?' His very pregnant daughter said it was only an accident, to which I repied that it wasn't a bloody accident, it was total and complete inattention to the job at hand. Anyway, no-one was hurt and the Tenere is ok except for the rooted pannier, I think. Now the squabble starts witht the insurance comapny - perhaps. I hope not. |
Glad your O.K. mate.:blob7:That's the problem with car drivers bike blind.:027:

Lucky there. Its amazing how difficult it must be to see bikes. Maybe we notice them more because they play a big part in our life. We are actively looking for them. This is not supposed to be an excuse for lack of observation.
Main thing is you are ok. Hope you have more luck with insurance than I. Knocked off while stationary in Sept. First the other side tried to blame me, not the driver though, then they offered a 50:50. Still fighting it, whilst still limping. Don't give in! Rob |
That's rough! I can't for the life of me see how you could have been to blame since you were stationary. Your treatment at the hands of Joe average just goes to reinforce my cynical view of him. 50:50 my a****!

Back in 2006 I got taken out riding my R6 to work, as I turned off the motorway at 25kph a blind 25 year old blond ***** driving Daddy's Merc decided to do about 120 kph UP THE HARD SHOULDER and did not see me........The R6 set off down the hard shoulder at 120, I went up about 2m vertically and landed on the car that hit me and smashed the windscreen with my elbow......THEN she could not see so she braked hard and sent me down the hard shoulder like Tom Cruise on my face and all would still have bin ok (full face lid plus protection etc) had not my feet decided to go under the armco barrier and when they arrived at a vertical my right foot was er chopped in half ouch........
I went by Helicopter to surgery (4 ops), 6 weeks in hospital and about 18 months to walk again. She got 100% of the blame and 2 years driving ban and er thats about it really, **** all else. And did she EVER ask me how I was???? No....... |
