YZ forks on XT660Z - update

The new forks are already fit on my Tenere. I using Yz 450 2006 forks, (46mm top, 49mm bottom) triple clamp was from was from WR 450 2005. The size was 44mm / 48mm and I machined it 1mm top and 0.5mm bottom to be able to put the forks in. I using the original Yamaha steering stem. Bolt it without problem, only on the top clamp i have to put 1mm spacer between the stem and the clamp(the original stem was top 25mm, the new is top 23mm. The front wheel is from YZ 450.I also changed the handle bars with 28mm. What is left is oversize brake disk 270mm. I did today a proper test.
I need to change the springs with stiffer, It's ok the way it is now but I want to make a proper sag .I already ordered 0.52 this is the stiffest I can get. The rear shock is soft(it will be replaced with Ohlins) and lift it with new bones (35 mm) Some pictures from today:

The mudguard is ordered from Off the Road, it's on the way.

Beautiful, but what does the brake come from? If the brake is from a YZ & you use the XTZ orig brakepump how does it work? The clamps does not hit the cooler in full steering and how did you get the steering stops to work?

My self are almost finished with my plan to mount a USD to my XTR.
I got clamps from a KTM 690 Enduro R so I mod the orig stem a little "will start a new thread" but will take picture how much I change. The forks are from a KTM660 and the brake are the same on KTM660 is a Brembo 4 pistons. Got already a black KTM EXCEL wheel left from my late KTM690 Enduro R before I sold it.

But now the plans have change a little bit. I won at Ebay a complete black KTM Enduro R 2012 forks and clamps so will wait before I mount it + I would like a normal brake instead of the Brembo 4 piston and a 320mm disc. 300mm disc is what I want instead. So in January I probably will upload some picture ! :)

Hi Landton,
yes, I use theoriginal XTZ brakepump, it work with no problem. The brake hose is for YZ 130mm. I will put 270mm YZ oversize brake disc with adapter, I already bought it. It should be ok. At the moment is with 250mm. Yes it is different than the stock(2x298mm) but I am not a fast rider and I prefer one disc instead the heavy two. The clamps are ok, the stoppers I didn't set. Coolers are ok, now the clamps stop in the plastic cover of the keylock holder. See the picture:

The only cons is that it make a little bit small angle now, which I don't care at all.
I look forward your conversion.

:coolsmiley: Nice work - she's looking really good!

Fitting a fresh set of springs in the standard forks shows up the failings of the OE shock, so you must be really draggin' your arse at the moment! ;)

Your bike is looking great.

Here is a pic of my bike that I did about a year back. She loves the off-road and is better suited in the ruff stuff.

What rear shock are you running ?

Ernesto 26-05-13 19:50

Hi, very nice XT with the Wp fork. I just bought a complete YZ450F '09 front end to my XTR, I want to fit the YZ fork but with the xt wheel and brake set up. I'll post it when the conversion starts.
