Adventure spec sump guard and crash bars
Hi I'm looking for some crash bars for my tenere I have the adventure spec crash bar/sump guard fitted and want to fit something like the sw motech bars however looking around I can't seem to find anything that will fit .
Any advice will be greatly appreciated ,thanks |
Been looking around at crash bars, but wonder if the Ten really needs them. I will be thinking about a decent metal bash plate mind as I usually seem to end up on rocky lanes... stuff like Sarn Helen in the Beacons, but then also wonder how good the standard plastic bash works. I used to have a quick release plastic bash plate on my KTM 450 and nothing broke it, and it took some serious abuse... far more than I will be putting the Ten through.
I sometimes ask myself is all this aftermarket stuff really really necessary ?? |

Crashbars IMVHO seem to be an unnecessary extra lump of weight to lug around and certain designs/types can make access to oil filter, timing inspection covers, petrol tank covers/bolts, radiator cap and other regular service items more time-consuming to get at. However, some people swear by 'em! |
Crash bars ?...
But engine bars for sure.. I'm moding a set of Yamaha ten engine bars at the moment to fit my XTR..I'm makeing them bolt to the 6mm thick bash plate so 4 bolts remove plate & bars as one unit.. I have a couple of nice gurges on my water pump.. why it's still intacked I don't know... |
The Ten does not really need engine bars as it has a built in protection. I use the large Touratech bash plate which covers just about everything including the wasser pumpe. It's well cool.

I have a adventure spec bash plate and engine bars... love the look of the bash plate, but engine bars i hate with passion! This was on the bike when i bought it. Unfortunately you can't separate them :-/
I might replace them for some aluminium bash plate without the bars, and get additional water pump cover from OTR. http://i2.fmix.pl/fmi1237/933c3cde001d4b655096ada7 |
Do the AS bash plates have mounting problems or weak joints or am I thinking of something else?

Have a look at the Touratech bash plate. It looks really nice on the Ten. Simple fit and to gain access to the sump plug, just undo the two front bolts and let it swing down. There is an option for a tool box at the front as well.
