Welcome mate.

Does the bike have standard rear suspension links & is the chain adjusted correctly? A way around the problem if can't move the link pipe away from the chain is to dent the pipe where the chain is rubber with a ball pin hammer.

standard suspension, and the chain is correctly adjusted,i'll give that a try, thanks.

If you do a search you find a few guys have put a dent in their link pipe to clear the chain.

Pipe touching chain sounds a bit like the (now sorted) MTC link pipe issue: http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?...ight=clearance
Perhaps the cans you have were designed for the earlier X model with different swing arm? If your budget allows, go for the MTC system.

thanks all,got it sorted today, link pipe had to be removed, and hammer a groove for the chain, much happier now, getting to know the bike a bit better now,and had a good couple of hours flying around today on slighty damp roads, what a laugh, could have never taken liberties like that on the old bike.
