Heroeslegend 2012

Hi, as some would know I competed in the 2010 heroeslegend rally and thoroughly enjoyed the event on my tenere.

The only thing is it was a one off for me, as it does cost a bit, so when out of the blue, Patsy Quick rang me(in may/june) asking if I would like to come on board the team as a mechanic for this years rally, really she had me at orange bike!.
So next wednesday the 26 I head over to the desertrose HQ to help loading the truck and head off for Paris and ultimately Dakar. excited you betcha!

anyhow there were 12 riders on the team now 11 as John mich. proprietor of rallyraid products broke his wrist last week, fixing guttering no less!. anyhow team desertrose is the biggest team (mostly ktm 690's) on the rally being supported by 3 mechanics and a driver.

so keep an eye out on http://www.heroeslegend.com/page-1-1-en.html i hope to do a write up and a few pics when i return.

If you's come across any interesting bits, why not add them here as sometimes you guys know more of whats going on than someone like myself out in the middle of it.

Many thanks, bernard

Have fun, we took a couple of the guys out on Salisbury Plain a few weeks ago on the 690s and obviously observed the 30mph limit. The new suspenders make those bikes float over everything!

Good luck Stoic! Please update us with your progress!

Hi,well the bikes and truck are loaded at Dakar port so im enjoying a beer with the lads before we head our separate way.
If yous had been following the event our team certainly had its low points with the loss of a rider,a real character, Gordon. He will be missed
also Nick was on the final day quite injured, causing him to retire
as well as Tony, fellow mechanic required to be flown out since moritainia, he's still in hospital
Yep some tales to tell
Will be home late tomorrow so will talk then ciao

Sad news about Gordon. Never met him personally but I know he did the UK rallies so probably shared a course with him at some point. There was a minute's silence held for him at the start of the Cambrian Rally on Saturday.

Will look forward to hearing how the rest of it went, saw a couple of things Patsy had posted on Twitter and it sounded like a tough one.
