London Games

Is anyone else enjoying the olympics?

I have found my self riveted to the telly to see how our people got on.

So I am off there on the week-end to watch the last day's events.

I had absolutely no interest in the games before they started however I soon got caught up in the cycling and then gradually started watching the other events.

Just one thing though that puzzles me. Why is a horse walking funny classed as a sport?

Knock yourself out Colin....

Personally i had no interest in the London stuff, 2 weeks on and i'm even less impressed.

Had to disappear to a field in Scotland to recover some sanity!

Just saw Usain Bolt doing 200m - utterly amazing!!!! & I'm only into motorsport!

They think it's all over..........

I thought it was a great closing ceremony for a very well organised (and televised) "able bodied" event.

Just seems a shame that the Paralympics is seen as an after thought....it's even had to go to Channel 4!

It may all have been a bit over budget but if it helps to inspire a nation of otherwise inactive and unmotivated children (and maybe some adults!) then I reckon it was money well spent. Especially when you consider the variety of events - surely something for everybody (well, most).

..as for the scooters last night with the Kaiser Chiefs playing along too - fantastic & George Michael remains the coolest human being on the planet (shared with Bradley Wiggins).

Olympic coverage has been great - dancing horses and a few other interesting "sports" aside and as a sailor the coverage was supeb.

Must have cost a fortune, but has done the UK no harm. No doubt the government's scheme to sell off school playing fields will still go ahead and we'll have a load of dusty stadiums to fill too..

Good job Londoners

Must say I'm impressed!

You Poms did so well, staged a great event, kicked us Aussies in the arse in the medal tally. Well done, you deserved the success!

I just knew the music would be top shelf & the opening ceremony really served to remind the world just how much Britain has contributed to world culture, science, technology, fashion, engineering, design, mechanisation, humour....

I didn't hear of any problems with security (even with G4S's monumental **** up) which in today's fraught security environment is a minor miracle in itself.

Well done you Brits, bask in the well-deserved glory!:occasion6:

Well just back from a full weekend of enjoyment. I don't usually like crowds or big cities but London seems transformed. Nice people nice weather, what a blast.

Mrs D had a good time too.

Agree about the dancing horses but on the whole I think it is something to be proud of for a change.

George Michael the 'coolest human being on the planet'????? WTF????? I'm almost speechless!!!! That old has-been druggy nearly ruined the show IMHO!!!! Even the lumpen spice girls were better (relatively).
Apart from that, he's not even British - no disrespect to Greece.... I also learnt today that Bradley Wiggins was borne in Belgium....
