XT500 rebuild on TV
 

Did anyone see the program bike show (or similar title) on tv last night?
I don't know the channel, my Mrs flips channels like a pancake competition.

Restoring a 1981 XT500.

The guy bought it for �1400 and it was pretty well used.

Totally stripped, powdercoated and re-chromed.
Due to the pancakes I didn't see the end result. :( But was still an interesing watch.

yeah saw it a few weeks ago, it was a 2 part special of the "Motor Bike Show" a fill in for ITV4s TT coverage fronted by Henry Cole, Took me right back to being a kid in the '70s and fantasising about owning a huge thumper trailie
I quite like Henry Coles stuff as I'm the same age as him we have the same points of referance for junior dreams so I just "get" what he means

Well it certainly looked smart when finished, but I wonder why he didn't let on how much it all cost him!

One thing i noticed is that the tank was full of small dents when polishing it, but when it went on the bike there wasn,t a dent in sight :109: the magic of tv i guess.

He couldn't tell you because he'd lost one arm and a leg:024::120:.

and his wife will be able to watch the prog, also by the magic of the type of TV pioneered by Dave Dee this prog will be repeated on a loop ad infinitum so mention of costs soon becomes irrelevant
