Belchite,decimated village,Spain(Part Two)

We find an item that was left in the barn long after the decimation...

We then ride on a short distance along a street, over rocky going and arrive at the other chapel...

It too was dealt with in the same way as the first...

So...we ride on out along the next street and find the remnants of a cast iron fountain that no doubt sat in the middle of a small square ....

Afterwards we take a final look at the clear blue skyline before riding off to look for an hotel...

Similar to Oradore sur Glane (probably not spelled - spelt? - correctly) in France.

(Ouradour-sur-Glane)

Its another very moving place to visit, I think on a smaller scale to Belchite.
Some pics from my ride back in my Triumph Scrambler days.

The church where the inhabitants were gathered and were burned to death if they survived the hand grenades.

What remains of the alter - I had a tear in my eye when I saw the child's pram

The remains of the church bell that melted in the fire.

these photos are amazing, i could spend days there trying t find good angles, riding would have to take a backseat for a while

just not now though...riding in Cuba is in my near future instead

Ohlins 24-07-12 11:14

My pro photographer buddy did indeed get some great snaps....

your in box is full

so i thought you would mind if i post this here...

i was putting up a new post and saw your three posts of the belchite decimated village, even though i have looked at them numerous times i wondered if you had a gps track for that ride so i could get straight to it, as the surrounding scenerary was great as well

not sure when it will be but i would like it on file if possible

hope you have a great new year

Yip...I'll call in for sure. It'll probably be in the Spring time when we get more time....get the kids back to school etc after their Winter Holidays.

You can have a wee peep here to see what stuff I've done to the XTZ for Maroc

Hi Paul..

I PM'd you this morning before I saw this post.

I don't have a route for the ride out. Having said that it's an easy place to find and no matter where you come from( North South East or West) the going is all great riding. You'd just enter Blechite into the gps and let it do it's work.

In the meantime I will ask my buddy if he has the route we took. I know he took a newly married couple there and got some great snaps of them in the church.

Keep safe

:)

PhilinFrance 31-12-12 10:17

Already had a sneck at that on ADV mate and will be picking you brains when our lass isn't watching !!!!!
Done Maroc a couple of times on my DR and loved it but the Tener will hopfully take me further down the coast
Look forward to meeting up later
Phil

Ohlins 31-12-12 10:25

OK Phil....

No problem...Have a good new year.

rtwpaul 31-12-12 17:07
