XT660Z brake pad life
Hi
I Know this is like asking how long is a peice of string, but roughly how many miles/km are owners getting from their brake pads front and rear??? I set off from the UK to Thailand will cover approx 24000km do you think i should take a replacement set?? Eric |
I probably would, it can be extremely variable, especially if you are doing a lot of off-tarmac stuff.
My original set of front pads still had plenty of life in them when I replaced the front end at ~29,000 miles. I've been through several sets of rear pads which have lasted anywhere from 2,000 to 15,000 miles. |
^ what he said..
The front's will last, but the back.... anyone's guess |

+1!
I switched to organic brake pads after my Tenere's first winter when I saw the amount corrosion/pitting on the front discs. At 111,000 miles still on original front discs (just) and second rear. Probably worth taking at least one spare set of pads. |
I just changed my rear pads, first time I've ever done it actually.
they lasted roughly 10.000 kms, and were then *completely* gone, scraping the disc |
Blimey so how do you ******s ride????? Pads should last at least 20,000 km I would guess...

Most of the people who have replied to this thread ride XTRs or Teneres, and use them off-tarmac. Mud/grit/sand turns rear pad life into a lottery. |
XTZ - 21K miles - original front pads - on third set of rears
