quickie before the lakes meet
Went out this afternoon in the bright sunshine. First stop at Dalachy, the site of a ww2 air base. One of the main runways is still rideable and you can get to the control tower from the main road to Spey Bay. We also managed to have a quick look at the operations room which is now owned by a local who seems to be using it as a garage. The owner pointed out the wall which was originally covered by a map of the Norwegian coast. Below it was the massive table which I'm sure most of us have seen on the old films with the movements being tracked. On another wall a the remains of a blackboard with ETA's etc - amazing.
The control tower. http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/...PICT0003-2.jpg http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/...PICT0005-2.jpg Then a trip onto forest tracks which was cut short after trapping my foot under the bike during ANOTHER slow off. Another vote for wearing protective gear - still bl..dy sore and swollen tho. Jeez I really need to learn to ride this bike. http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/...PICT0007-1.jpg http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/...PICT0006-1.jpg http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/...1/PICT0009.jpg http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/...1/PICT0010.jpg |
