What size numberplate is everyone using ?
Hi guys, just wondering what size plate we are using. I was thinking of getting a smaller plate so I could cut down the rear fender to give it a cleaner rear end, currently using a full size 9" x 7" legal plate.
what is the consensus ? |
+ 1 on regular size. What's the point in having a sign hanging off your bike that says: 'Please Mr plod, come nick me!!!'
Agreed, giant yellow number plates aren't very aesthetic, but thats life............. |
Standard size for me too. A small plate just isn't worth the potential grief. I accept the fact that they "look cool" in some people's eyes, but if you're riding your bike (rather than staring at it) you can't see the plate anyway...

Stick to the standard - you can still cut the back with the standard plate.
It may not be as radical as some but at least it will be legal. |
Standard, for the reasons already given.

aaaah, let me throw this out there. Until recently I was running a ridiculously small 6x4 plate due to the fact that my WB tailtidy and akras conspired to make a teeny tiny gap for said number plate. I have consequently taken a scrollsaw to my old legal plate and trimmed of all the excess around the digits. This makes a plate around 7x5 but with the correct size letters with the correct size spacing in between them... I have not been bothered yet.

3x3 enduro size plater for me...so far....
|
Standard size as well, as the cops like it that way
In any case, it's behind me, so I don't even see it when I'm driving |
+1 for feck
Spacing and borders come in to it for sure |
7x5 small enough to look good but doesnt take the piss so no hassle from plods
