Dumb noob question
 

Just in the process of replacing my rear shock (in between the rain showers, oh to have a garage!!).
How do you remove the little lugs holding the rubber (or whatever?) cover to the swingarm to get to the shock. I tried levering them gently, only to snap a corner off. What should I be doing? Thanks.

Try lifting the centre of the clip. Use a small screw driver.

I think the centre section is tapered and locks the outer section in place.

(Not tried these actual clips, but they look like standard automotive fixings)

I am a new member on this site but I have messed about on bikes for years.
To remove the plastic stays you have to press the round pins in the middle.
This will make them loose to pull out.
Hope this helps.

Push the middle button in (goes in about 5mm) and then they should just lift off with the rubber flap...

just out of interest, what shock are you fitting as a replacement ?

Yacugar ERS. Replacing the front springs as well (for progressives). I will report back once all fitted and road tested. Cheers all.

no need to remove the rear wheel .. once the link pipe is disconnected you can get to the top shock bolt

Good choice, I'm well pleased with mine. Are you fitting the Yacugar progressive fork springs? If you are, despite what it suggests in the Yacugar instructions, don't fit the original spacers. I followed the instructions to the letter and crowded everything in the fork tubes (thought at the time it was a bit odd as Hyperpro say no spacers for there's) - ended up with about 10mm of static sag and about 20mm rider sag! Whipped the spacers out and everything was fine. Out of interest I also raised the forks through the yokes by 5mm.

Good luck with the suspension change - it will make a vast difference...
