Possibly shortly to be ex-Bonneville owner

Hello,

Having been directed here by SteveD I thought I'd say hello before starting reading.

My Bonneville is starting to show it's age and having had an XT600E up until 2003 I'm starting to think about a Tenere. Not planning a RTW trip or anything, just need a practical bike with good range that isn't going to get upset when mildly abused. I'm not the tallest guy in the world and the wife will occasionally ride pillion (hence the switch to the Bonneville back in 2004) so I'm just at the stage of working out if that extra 10mm over the XT600E will make any real difference. After a little walk in the desert back in 2002 courtesy of a Rotax water pump I'm refusing point blank to buy a G650 though even if it is lower and cheaper!

Going to read some of the past posts here then probably ask some stupid questions!

Andy

Definately a lot to read in these threads, but it will be worth your knowledge base in the end.

Hi and welcome to the forum

We will get you :117: when you find out that there are a few guys who have the tenere but have added lowering links and then dropped the forks through the yokes and they found the bike alot better.

Hi Andy and welcome.

You should be able to search for the Lakeland meet and PM Gas Up Lets Go if you want to come to the Lakes and see us. You will not find a bigger gathering of the XT range of bikes anywhere else in the UK!

...........as for Kiethblade:bootyshake:, just ignore him, he's got one of the inferior Red Z'eds!:laughing5:

As I've mentioned before you are more than welcome to come over and meet up with us and have a go on my bike, have a looksee what others have done to their bikes as well.

Happy hunting on the site, you will find no better way to find out about the 'quirks' of these bikes.

Cheers SteveD
