How fast

Hi all
Just wanted to know what sort of speed does everyone on the xt660z do on the motorways as in without screwing the nuts off it. As I will be doing some long motorway runs and don't want to kill it.

Hi spookyad
I usually sit at around 80-85 mph good comfy speed for me
And not thrashing the motor. Just don't keep it pinned in red line and you'll
Be fine mate.

I tend to cruise at an indicated 80, which leaves a reasonable amount of zip left for overtakes etc. However, factor in that an indicated 80 is actually 72mph in the real world as the XTZ speedo is 10% optimistic with OE size tyres and gearing.

75 mph is better for fuel economy but 80 is comfortable too and doesn't make the engine feel stressed, but i resist going above that.
on another note: my speedo has never been that far out as others seem to find theirs. using oe tyres and tested againt a top of the range garmin gps it seems to be less than 3 mph out.

Did 300 miles on motorway recently.
Got around 240miles a tank just before hitting reserve and was cruising at 80-85 MPH (Keeping up with flow of trafic I might add :046:).

I was fully loaded with the missus and camping kit, tent, sleeping bags etc etc and I found that I had plenty of grunt left to overtake without dropping a gear and also found that the ten wasn't screaming at me.

I also have high front fender and did not experience any overheating.

I was actually supprised at how well it did!!

Hope that helps ya.

Cheers

Thanks guys that is not as bad as I thought it would be, a true all rounder then.

My XTX cruises at an indicated 140kph with ease, any faster and it starts to weave IF I have the top box on. I have got an indicated 177kph and it still had a bit more, but I bottled out!!! I get 200 kms before the reserve light comes on. See yas!!!
