i did the same and he contacted me and refused to ship until he knew the color combination i wanted

bob 19-04-12 00:06

i sent them a message in the ask a question section - ask asked if they could send me a money request for the levers and just put in there:

Suzuki - GSXR 600 1997 - 2003 Clutch
Yamaha - FJR 1300 2004 - 2008 Brake

and i want the lever in XXX color
and i want the adjuster in XXX color
and if you want short or long levers

he told me they will mix and match any combination of colors, you can see the different colors on the link

And the mess continues. Here is my story:
Ordered and pair, but forgot to add info about what I wanted
Sent them a message on Ebay with the models from rtwpaul, forgot to add colors
Sent them a message with what colors I wanted, but forgot to add Short/long
Sent a message with the length...

Jeez, what a mess. I'll be happy if it goes through. I've gotten a reply to each of my messages with a request for the additional info, so it seems they are good people.

I see custom sticker still going strong mate?
Bike looks cool being used what it was made for

rtwpaul 20-04-12 00:08

yea but looking at these photos the exhaust headers standout so much, i'm thinking about pulling them off and coating them, not sure if they will hold up over time...they got to looking like this when i was on the haul road in Prudhoe Bay Alaska from the calcite on the road

bob 20-04-12 16:54

How about wrapping them with
Exhaust wrap gear not sure what it's called?

on a few of the hundreds of custom bikes i built ( www.dynamicchoppers.com) i used hi temp exhaust wrap

Pros
increases horsepower by 1-2 hp
looks good initially
gives a some what aggressive look

Cons
its a ***** to put on as it is basically its cloth infused with fiberglass
first few days it stinks and smokes
when it gets old it fades and gets tatty
being cloth it absorbs water and dirt much easier than a piece of tubing

i'll probably do hi temp paint instead of ceramic coating as ceramic coating although good is delicate and scratches and chips as it gets older

i just got invited to the overland expo along with Chris Scott - http://www.overlandjournal.com/overl...overland_expo/

i'll have a chat with some riders there and see if anyone has found a good solution

rtwpaul 20-04-12 18:41

"the cockpit" !!!!

http://dmh65.smugmug.com/photos/i-zq...zqwNbFV-X2.jpg

why two GPS systems? Well i can run one on compass one on maps/ directions...or have altitude so i can make adjustments on the Kev Mod on the fly to see variations...

choices...

a quick simple fix for getting the tank full quicker and maybe adding an extra liter has been covered before...if you are in doubt about doing this grease is your friend.

remove the outer allens, and the one under the cap, watch for dust, dirt bebris, this is where grease is you friend, put a rag with some grease on it to catch any thing that falls

once out, grease a drill bit, this will hold particals from going in the tank as well...use an air or hand drill and make your hole then put it all back together

ONLY FILL YOU TANK TO THE BRIM WITH THIS MOD IF YOU ARE GOING TO RIDE 30+ MILES OTHERWISE IF THE BIKE IS IN THE SUN GAS EXPANDS...NOT A GOOD SCENARIO, THINK ABOUT IT!!!

Kev 27-04-12 05:59

Just a reminder don't use an electric drill. :031:

rtwpaul 27-04-12 06:12

as noted in the text only use an air or hand powered drill to do this

Hi Paul
How many Litres do you feel the tank hold now??
I see the hand book says fill to the bottom of the neck, but as you say if you heading off riding straight away there should be no expansion problems, would be great to get 2-3 extra Litres.

Eric

rtwpaul 27-04-12 15:37

maybe a liter or more, it depends if you completely drain the tank, but as you and i are doing long rides with the potential of large distances between gas station even a liter is great, thats another 10+ miles...

FYI as the mileage got higher on my bike (over 40,000 miles) i got better fuel mileage, my best was 408 miles to a tank

rtwpaul 29-04-12 04:33

bash plate fix

I've been riding with a cracked bash plate for...thousands of miles, it did its job and protected as it should, only problem is the bend weakens the aluminum, so a simple quick fix is to replace the back section with a piece of bent stainless steel, good as new

Thats great if it the Zs range was 380/400 miles[ 605/640km] plus i have just bought a 7L fuel bladder as a backup for Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and China so should give me a range of [ in theory] 800km. I see Sysie actualy got 24.7 L into his tank on another post.

if you have time look into these gas cans LINK to GAS CANS

not sure if you are using hard luggage but with their mount, easy to add to the front or rear of the pannier, i'll be adding them for Africa

or even one for gas one for water, and very reasonably priced

Once i was in the States as i knew gas stations were everywhere i regularly filled up at 300 - 350 mile range and only put in 15-20 liters

rtwpaul 21-07-12 19:52

after the ride back from Arizona my rear tire had almost 10,000 miles on it so i did a swap

can you see the new one???

That tyre mileage was certainly good value.....

rtwpaul 23-07-12 01:45

just found some other stuff i did that i forgot to add

because of leaving to do the www.5000mileadventures.com scouting ride there is a lot of offroad riding i wanted bigger pegs, problems is being in the states finding some!!! Some companies claimed theres might fit??? So instead i had a spare stock set set so i jut made some wider pegs my self

http://dmh65.smugmug.com/photos/i-bh...bhM5BfB-XL.jpg
http://dmh65.smugmug.com/photos/i-ww...wwRHtXS-XL.jpg

i made them so they still fit the stock rubber tops, and i'm guessing you knew that hole in the passenger peg mount was the place to keep them when not in use??? Well it is now :lol3:lol3:lol3

http://dmh65.smugmug.com/photos/i-39...39CMPk7-XL.jpg

Also having gone to a single can exhaust i had some space left over on the right side, so utilized the mount from the MTC exhaust and fitted a locking tool tube. I add some tools that were of approximate equal weight to the Exhaust can to balance the bike out again

Hi Paul,

where did you found this type of aluminum mesh? Nice solution this one!

rtwpaul 24-07-12 21:30

its actually 3mm thick stainless steel, it was from a job i was doing but any stainless steel supplier should stock something like this

RafaelMartins 26-07-12 15:47

Thanks for the info, I will try to find out to make a rad guard and the foot pegs mod.

Have a good trip!
