Fitting Scotoiler
 

Hi to all,
Has any one got a step by step idiots guide to fit scotoiler to a xt660x.

Also i do not ride to hard so is it worth fitting the double sided sysytem?

Good question mate. But why do you think that you need one??? I think that UNLESS you are planning to ride a really long distance then a quick squirt every week with chain lube is far easier, cheaper, more effective and wastes less oil??? Comments please!! Simon

I'd say you'll be find with the single nozzle, most people I know use this and have had no issues.

The Scottoiler's best feature is not really the fact that you don't have to remember to lube the chain, but because of the way it lubes it. The oil's thin and gets in all the knooks and crannies, but the best thing is it flings off the chain taking dirt, grit and muck with it (so its not really wasted). Aerosol chain lubes tend to build up into a sticky mess (unless cleaned very regularly) which allows dirt and grit to stick and accelerate wear. So I would say, even if you only do a small mileage its still worth it...

My chain is nearly 4 years old, as are the sprockets, they have been through 4 winters, lots of long trips, hundreds of short ones close to 30,000 miles and the chain is still very servicable. It's had a Scottoiler from day 1.

One of the reasons for scotoiler is no center stand I know it can be done squirt push the bike a bit squirt and so on I was trying to eliminate that and also in case I missed any.

Another reason slightly older now so to make it easier is another reason less fidlier etc etc.

And as Gas_Up_Lets_Go states chain and sprockets still going 30,000 thats got to be the best recomendation any one can give.

I know its an XTR with a steel box swingarm, but there should be enough to go on. Most people seem to get stuck with locating the vacuum feed. The photos should be of help with this. The pipe routing is really down to personal choice; every XTZ I've seen has a different pipe arrangement - many ways to skin a cat and all that!
