Hehe welcome to the world of bikes and Yamaha and fun and XT660com!!!!! Read this site and all of the experiences and advice, no mods are strictly necessary and it all depends what you wanna do with the bike. If your bike is new make NO mods until you have a few thousand km on the clock. Then have fun....Ciao Simon

:hello: and :welcome: to :660:

Make sure your bike is run in well first, then invest in a set of DNA Hi-Flo filters stage 1 and stage 2 will help you get some extra poke and the 2 filters are re-washable and will last the entire lifetime of the bike.

The first thing, that would be to treat it to a lovely weekend in gods country, up here in the Lakes on the 9, 10,11 may, where you can see other XT's get the low down on them over a beer, take part in the NavXT event and generally have a ball.

Details here -> http://www.xt660.com/forumdisplay.php?f=198

Then after you've run her in good and proper, take the Captains advice and give her some more poke.

:hello: Welcome onboard mate.

As for mods - ride it, enjoy it and soon you'll know what you need!

Welcome mate.

Welcome along Dan.

Just keep the revs up (ie don't labour the engine too much) and enjoy the miles and smiles!
IMHO, the most effective mod for the money is to lower the final gearing - eg +2 teeth on back sprocket or -1 on front. You loose a bit of top speed but gain improved acceleration. Can give the engine an easier life as well.

However, as it's your first bike it's best to just get used to it first.

Enjoy!

But as everyone else said put some miles on, get up to the XT meet and then look at getting some filters and then the exhausts
