Finally got an XTX also lol

Hi all, I am the Slightly younger and shorter brother of Ace2479.
I have also finally got an XTX which I purchased 2 hours ago.

Its a 2010 model in black, will post pics once ive cleaned it.

It was a pleasant ride home cosidering it was mostly M25 and very windy, happy to sit at 90mph all day and almost no vibes. But............................. the jerkyness at slow speeds in any gear is unbearable, coming up to junctions or steady 30 - 40mph driving is horrible and I wont even mention roundabouts.

That alone makes we want to get rid already but I will have ago at ironing this out with your help. As far as I know its all standard apart from dual MTC cans, there is no popping from these (well at least with the baffles in anyway)

Can anyone help me or advise me on what I should do first to maybe get rid of this snatchy riding lol

Also the bike has 8 months warranty left with yamaha :101:

Thanks in advance

Ok rang the dealer today, who said the bike is perfectly normal and not to worry about it, they all do it. Also said never to touch the TPS.

I said its very bad, so he said is there any mods, I said just the MTC cans. So now he said its the cans making it ride like this need a PC3.

Sounds wrong to me.

He said bring it in next week and he will test ride it

Sounds to me like your mechanic doesn't know his ass from his elbow mate....

Thats exactly what i thought to myself as soon as I put the phone down.

Would really like this surging gone.
What should I start with first, maybe the CO from the dash

I need your expertise :dontknow:

Step 1 - Join the XT-Supporter Scheme see how here http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?t=1475

Step 2 - Send a PM to Kev and he will sort your surging out in the cheapest way possible with one of his inexpensive Kev Mods and a few tricks to apply to your bike settings.

Step 3 Ride away and enjoy ever after.

Yeah bro that was keys motorcycles.

Captmoto, Step 1 was the first thing planned for payday lol.

But yes I have read that there is a way to change the CO on the dash and has almost eliminated it but cant find it now.

Hi and welcome to the forum:welcome:

:Present_GDG8JM: think this is what your looking for
http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?...=Co+adjustment

The CO settings do help but the best thing i found to sort out the fuelling was a stg 2 filter and kev fuel mod.

SimonRoma 07-03-12 15:44

Dont worry mate, stick with these boys and follow their advice and you will soon be singing the praises of your XT, its a truly great bike!!!! I wish I had found this site 2 XTs earlier hehe but better late than never........

Kev 08-03-12 04:25

You can get you XTX to run smoothely.

Options below

1/ A PCV + dynojets O2 optimizer + custom mapping.
2/ On of my fuel mods + one of my O2 eliminators.

I no long make or sell my O2 eliminators but not is all lost I explain exactly on how to make them & where to buy the parts from in the latest version of my mod book.

hagland2431 08-03-12 17:54

Hi kev and thanks. I thought the O2 eliminator could only be used with a power commander.

Also I just entered the co mode after the diag screen and it comes up with C1 then I press select and reset again and it comes up with 21.

So the dash says C1 21 does this sound right

Also why does my bros 2004 model go to C1 or C2 my 2010 only has C1

ace2479 12-03-12 22:21

Hi bro any news on y mine has c1 and c2 and yours only has c1 ????????????? :BaseballHat_LNY2EG: maybe you need 2 strong arms or somthing, they say you need a power commander have you checked :ebay: :laughing3:

CaptMoto 12-03-12 22:32

Ah... they say ignorance is bliss and also... a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

Well all XTX/XTR will display C1 and C2 however C2 is an idle program section which is designed for the twin cylinders bikes such as the TDM they use the same cpu and software but of course the XT's only have one cylinder hence C2 does not apply and if you alter the settings of C2 f/all happens :D :color:

feck 12-03-12 23:05

nice swear filter dodge...

mash101 13-03-12 15:29

2010 model with surging?? I thought this was solved back in 2007? I believe mine is also 2010: I agree trying to ride at a steady 25 - 30 mph is a slightly weird experience, but once on the open road, all is fine. I Have no major mods, exhaust or otherwise, & am a happy punter (apart from weeping fork seal, which is another story...). I would like some MTC cans when I can afford them/justify to her indoors, & would be interested to know if the fuel mod etc. would then be required to stop any surging issues.
