Great job Pat, the bike looks cool we must think alike!
Will post the pictures of my XT660Z set up to ride from John O Groats to Thailand via Tibet and Everest base camp this July, have a set ARD cases from Roger great quality, the only thing i need are the larger foot pegs, think the SW Motech will be good for me.

You are covered for the amount shown in the benefits schedule if you have an accident whilst you are on your trip which is the sole and independent cause of your death, permanent total disablement, loss of sight or loss of limb(s) within 12 months of the accident.
If you are aged under 16 at the date of the accident, the amount you are covered for in the event of your death is 2,000.
Payment under this section in respect of all the consequences of an accident shall be limited in total to the amount shown in the benefits schedule. In the event of your death within 12 months of the accident, the total payment will be limited to the amount shown for death.
"Accident" means that you suffer bodily injury as a result of an identifiable and unexpected external cause.
"Permanent total disablement" means that for the twelve months following your accident you are totally unable to work in any occupation for which you are suited by experience, education or training and at the end of that time there is no prospect of improvement.
"Loss of limb(s)" means physical loss of a hand or foot or complete loss of use of a hand, arm, foot or leg.
"Loss of sight" means total and permanent loss of
sight which shall be considered as having occurred:
a. in both eyes if your name is added to the Register
of Blind Persons on the authority of a fully
qualified ophthalmic specialist, or
b. in one eye if the degree of sight remaining after
correction is 3/60 or less on the Snellen scale.
You are not covered for
a. claims resulting from motorcycling.
b. claims arising out of manual labour.

Cheers Revenue - would be great to get some shots of your Z. I agree about the need to change out the standard pegs. Mine are Pivot Pegs, which are really comfy for normal riding, but Im not 100% sure about them for standing up for any length of time... well see, and Ill post how I get on with them on the blog. Would be good to hear your views on the SW Motech ones in due course.
Thanks
Pat

Hi Kinioo - thanks for the :thumbsup[1]: on the blog mate - Ill try and keep it interesting as I go along.

Have fun at the game - hard not to really! Pity Im having to do the outlaw thing this weekend, or I could have joined you for a :beer[1]: Cant really grumble as Im going to be away for 4 months!

Cheers

I didnt get the PM - but thanks for posting this.

I know what you mean - the accident / death cover elements are pretty crap for bikers. But so are the max payouts under this section (2k/5k) even if you were able to claim - so section 4 is a bit pointless either way really. I think for good cover in this area specialist accident / dealth cover is necessary - as most travel policies dont offer that much from what I have seen.

For me a high level of medical cover was more important from this policy, and this they do cover for big bikes on the Gold policy (important particularly for north america). I did check out with them the difference between medical and accident cover for bikers - essentially your medical bills are covered from a bike accident, but you cant claim the (2k max) compensation element under section 4. Im OK with that - and I have standing separate long term death cover (not that death isnt long term - you know what I mean:001:).

If I recall from my investigations a few months back, the Post Office do a pretty good travel policy that allows big bikes, and perhaps it is more balanced between medical and accident...

Cheers
Pat

Hi Pat
I have been looking at many insurances for my trip same as you and need to get something in place soon, as for my visa applications i need some form of cover, this does looks like one of the better ones i have seen, but do like to read the policy wording, Insurance companies not renowned for parting with their money if problems arise!

Eric
