Newbie - back to bikes after a long time and onto an XT660R

Hello all,

Just coming back to being a bike owner after 15 years away from bikes and found this site while looking for bike reviews.
I've been looking for a bike for a few weeks, mostly to commute to work on, and considered a few different 600's and a BMW G650GS then this week I was browsing in my local bike shop and they mentioned they had an XT660R being traded in the next day.

I went back for a look and an hour later was riding home on this :SpinHappy_15XK8L:

it's an '05 bike and has only done 6k miles. Seems to be standard except the last owner peeled all the stickers off for some reason? Think he preferred the 'stealth look' :smilielol:

Just started looking round the site - looks like there is a lot of info on here so appologies in advance for the inevitable stupid questions I'm bound to have!

Hi and welcome to the forum

Looks like youve got a nice bike there boss.

The standard stickers peel off easy so dont worry stealth mod is better.

I'd just about decided to order a replacement set of stickers for my XT660R and went into the local Yamaha dealer for a quote (over 100 - ouch:confused2:) so thought ....... I'll just have a quick look on ebay and found a full set of plastics plus mudguards / screen etc., all in excellent condition for two thirds the price of the stickers on their own. Placed a bid and won and they turned up a few days later.
Now all fitted to the bike (think they are 2007 spec?) and mine original panels are bubble wrapped and in the loft to keep as spares :laughing7:

the 'new look' XT660R........
