justice?
|
Not sure.
If he'd fallen down the stairs being chased out of the house and broken his legs, I might be inclined to agree with you. Chasing someone down the road in a car and running them over is stretching the definition of 'defending your home' a bit too far for me. |
hi ya,
while I do NOT believe it was nessarily the correct thing to do, it is indeed different here hunting down a person who broke into a another mans house, possessing a screwdriver [who knows pehaps, intending to carry out a spot of diy] and running them down. then being tried in court by a jury and being aquited, ok the burgular was compensated for his injurys, do not forget many victims of crimes are not! would a court in England have acted in a simular manner? |
When I got burgled, I phoned my phone only to be answered by the person responsible. What.
When the police arived at my house I showed them that the criminal answered my phone. I was told there was nothing they would do and wouldn't trace my phone unless someones life was in danger! but he's probably only a mile away smoking drugs with my laptop money, why can't you get him? Bastrds So I can see why someone might put that person's life in danger, LOL. stupid stupid. |
If I happened upon someone burgling me there would be either no-one to sue or no-one to be sued as one of us would go down.
I personally think there needs to be much tougher punishment to deter the thoughts of crime in the first place. Why not; 1st offence, warning 2nd offence, lose a finger 3rd offence, lose a hand 4th offence, lose your other hand Lets see them reoffend then? Or we can stick with the current, oh my you have been naughty havent you, you poor little smack dependent oxygen thief, here you have some compensation and a holiday on us! Wheres the incentive to change? The sooner the world is rid of this scum then we can all start to relax |
totally agree with the last post, cut off the hands, plain and simple! and watch the crime rate drop, instead of spending time and money on the scum in society.

I'm with the "Choose to live outside of the law (by breaking it), then you loose the protection the same law provides" camp.
When governments can choose to invade a country to prevent the possible use of weapons they might have..... then wiping out a scumbag to prevent another crime is perfectly justified, in my mind Dave (Stumpy) - You're too soft. |
9mm...nape of neck....bill the family for the bullet....no cost to tax payer.....
What?....What'd I say? :) |
This is more like it...
Tell me what father wouldn't do the same?
Not sure that it this happened in Oz or the UK the authorities would be quite so understanding... http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/201..._he_found.html |
I'm not a huge fan of US self defence laws, particularly given the high killed by gun rate, but if anybody tries to burgle me/steal my XT, I would probably make an attempt at 'shock & awe' or similar. Surely if someone tries to steal my sh*t they deserve everything that's thrown at them?? After all, our hard-pressed police force wouldn't be allowed/be able to do anything anyway. I'm not promoting vigilantism, but when it comes to your own home & personal, har earned stuff....
