Split Charge
hi, has anyone fitted or ever looked at fitting a 2nd battery and a split charge system to their Ten? with all the electrical extras available and only a limited supply of power I was wondering if it would be a worthwhile thing to persue. :102:

It's not a Landrover......
I don't think anyone has ever asked this question, for a bike - ever! Interesting thought, but where would you put a second battery ? |
I can't see why you would do this.

Cannot understand why you would need an extra battery as I run my GPS, heated jacket, heated grips etc. I do have a small gizmo (see Gammatronix) that lights up orange if I'm not getting enough OUT of the battery and switch things off accordingly. I do not have a problem with charging at all and regularly run all of these extra 'things' when out and about. When I get to site I usually use the power supply to pump up my airbed and charge my phone and helmet (bluetooth) and if necessary I have an air compressor for tyres. I do run the engine when I use either of the compressors though.
I have not had a problem with the battery flattening but the 'gizmo' does give me a reliable visible indicator of the charging system. Hope this helps. |
I,ve got a lorry battery and small trailer that could be hitched to the back of a tenere? or i,ve got a 30 mile long extension lead?:laughing9:

Or are you running camping lights and a microwave oven off it?? |
Just a thought before everyone bombs the poor guy to oblivion,
What about if masgra is intending a second battery to double the length of time he can use appliances whilst parked up, lights etc whilst camping? If the bike were stock there would be plenty enough surplus to charge both batteries whilst riding and with a split charge system fitted correctly you could then use the auxillary battery when stopped to power whatever you like without draining the main one. Is this the intention? |
