What's a good price for a used Z?

Hey guys and girls.

Thinking of buying another Z as mine has bitten the dust, a guy at work might be looking to get rid of his soon but hasn't indicated any sort of price.

What would you pay for a '10 plate, white model with less than 6K on the clocks? It's in great condition, don't think it's been washed in a very long time though!

As someone contemplating selling one, that is a difficult question to answer.
There are loads on eBay and autotrader at the moment with some fairly dramatic price fluctuations. Lots of dealers asking 4 1/2k+ for an 08/09 with over 10k miles. Probably why there's still loads on there. Maybe with all the mags singing the praises of adventure motorcycling as the only growth market, the dealers are hoping to make a killing in the spring?

I tentatively stuck mine on UKGSER at 3750. It's a black 60 plate, 10k miles, DNA stage 2-3. That was the cheapest price I saw at the time. Had a couple of nibbles but nothing concrete. Now I haven't advertised widely but even so, depending on how much you like your mate I would be looking at not paying more than 4k.

Just MHO

Thats the answer. Anything is only worth what someone will pay. My Ten is worth 10k to me, but I doubt I'd find anyone to offer more than 3k for it.....

Be aware of what's under the dirt - is it dirt, or has he coated the bike in ACF50 and left it ? could be a minter or a minger under the muck.

Prices change depending on where you are, demand etc, so I would suggest you get your mate to go down the dealers and see what the bike is worth in a trade in, that would make a great starting point.

Or.. look here -> http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?t=18344

You can find new bikes for around the 5k mark sometimes, pre-registered, ex-demo etc. just remember that the first 'free' service won't be free anywhere but the supplying dealer.

Good luck.
